Wood treatment is an interesting topic with stoves.
I just broke up a beech table top (IKEA type of thing with glued and spliced pieces). Found it in the cut. Will use it for kindling a starting up. I tend to think it is ok if not too much smoke comes into the boat but I read somewhere that is a bit dodgy for other people near the flue.
So is it acceptable to burn painted or treated/glued wood? I am in an urban setting so probably not? It seems the smokeless regs specifically exclude stoves which are warming up so its probably OK for kindling.
Don't really know though.

The window frames I collected 2 years ago and have been burning then ever since at Jaynes and here, It smokes when you refuel but after that it is clean. I only have another months worth left here but Jayne has a seasons worth left at the house! Its dark when we light it so should be ok

Sounds like a good coal man Off topic but I went for a walk down by the Thames from Limehouse to Woolwich yesterday to have a pedestrian ride on the Woolwich ferry My Mum used to take me on the Woolwich ferry when I was 5 or 6, she used to tell me we were going to France, I was 35 before I realised she was lying to me.

I took my kids on the Woolwich Ferry the other day as pedestrians. I told them we were going to Africa. I was explaining the details of the rather wicked Voith Schneider cycloidal propeller system which allows the vessel to perform impressive multidirectional maneoueoovers but the older of the two girls just said "Papa - its too noisy!!"
It was, to be fair, but those Voith Schneider units are very impressive !!!

If you are going on the Pocahontas by public transport from London, then train to Tilbury and there is a shuttle bus service to Tilbury Ferry landing ...... don't know the links on the other side

Kingswear Castle which used to be based at the Historic Docks Chatham used to do trips from Chatham to Southend and further to St Kats. She has now gone back to her roots in Dartmouth which I think was a sad loss for Chatham. When Waverley would visit the Medway both steamers would meet up off Darnett point and run up to the dockyard together
