I tracked down the people responsible for the overly flash motorised houseboat currently sitting in Limehouse Marina. German company. The price list is amazingly shocking. They are charging 25k Euros for a diesel generator. Is it gold plated or summat? What the fuck is going on here ?? Shocking www.rev-house.com/en/

(where's tomsk when you need him ) I bet the above £25k genny is coccooned, but still noisy enough to piss off boaters next door on a hot summers night.... Anyway the latest Tesla home batt is £6.5k all in for 14kWh with a built in 5kW inverter Trojans work out £100ish per kWh so say £1.5k for 14kWh which is a quarter of the cost. But that doesn't include inverter, charger, watering kit, wiring, install. The Tesla batt comes with 10yr guarantee, if it lasts MUCH longer than a set of Trojans it might actually be a goer. £6.5k over 10 years is about £60 a month or £2 a day or which doesn't sound too bad that way. Maybe you can save £1 a day with the Trojans but 14 Trojans takes up a fair space.

"Infinite freedom" - nope, not if you take a loan from HBSC to buy it - you'll have the mortgage chain round your neck to drag around forever. "Endless possibilities" - yes, you could dismantle it and move it plank by plank under the bridges if you ever want to do the Huddersfield Narrow Canal in it. Honestly. A floating shoebox. Well done Berlin University, you're turning out some fine architects.

And the mobility pack (aka engine and thruster plus electrical things ) adds about a hundred grand !!! For a 110hp inboard diesel engine and a bow prop and some electronicle toys. Oh dear oh dear.
I wonder if someone will buy one? Seems unlikely but they are real not just a theoretical thing.

Watching Guy martin in China last night on TV someone will by one with people spending 1.5 million on a car and then having it customised.
