Can you use an mppt controller to charge a 12v battery bank with a 24v wind turbine?

Can you use an mppt controller to charge a 12v battery bank with a 24v wind turbine? Not sure, but I thought most turbines are 3 phase, so would probably require a 3-phase MPPT

My guess would be that even if it's single phase and the correct voltage the answer would be no. There's nothing to track, so I'd imagine that the controller will be constantly attempting to vary the current from the turbine in a vain attempt to find the maximum power point.

I don't specially want an mppt it was more about whether I can get charge into a 12v battery bank using a 24v turbine. I'm sure there must be a way but I'm not sure what it is. Its an old wind turbine without electronicle things on it.

With my midnite the answer is yes because that is what it was designed for but it does require the turbine to have a brake on it not sure about the dump but would say more than likely needs one
