On hand baby sitter, for free. Blue sky thinking. Rog She lives close by, but tbh we don't go out of an evening. All my time away form work (paid or boat bodging) I'd rather spend with the dwarf. Off to see Al Murray next June so may well call in a favour then, the last time she had her for any real or length of time was 31/05/2014 that seems such a long time ago

I'm sure you wouldn't be inflicting yourself on anyone. In my experience the more the merrier. And anyway, christmas holiday lasts one day. Everything is open again boxing day (my wife is working). Luckily, this year, my contract ends christmas eve, so I get boxing day off Rog

Just thought I'd update things - Mick Cash representing the RMT was barred from the meeting this morning.

I can't help but feel that strike action is being used BECAUSE it will cause untold pain and anguish to rail users. Isn't that a bit "My issue is more important than your life". Just plain selfish. Surely there has to be a better way, whatever the grievance. Rog Giving the greedy managers a kick in the goolies could be one way. Send the angry public round to their offices, eh? Generally, workers are not greedy, they just want a fair pay and reasonable working conditions. Alternatively, just drag anyone who strikes ever against the firing wall, execute them, and bring in another load of East Europeans to do their jobs at 25% of the wages. Are there no Poles or Slovakians who can take over the managers' positions and do the job for 25% of the wages, and do it better? Let's have some Multiculturalism - at the top, eh?

The Mayor of London states and I'm paraphrasing; 'Unions get around the table and sort this out' What happens, RMT barred from meeting at ACAS.

I read it as 'bog off you have no real interest in the matter given RMT only represent 12 Southern rail drivers and ASLEF represent the vast bulk of drivers at 1,000' Hes just miffed because he's had his nose pushed out of something that doesn't really concern him.

Yeah - how are you supposed to get to the table if they slam the door in your face? How much did Sadiq Khan get paid to say that? The management know what they are doing... they spend many hours in meetings planning how to screw their employees. If the public don't want good working conditions for working people, then sod the public, let them walk home - no-one asked them to take a job in London.

Didn't think there would be much support for the strikers on here. Maybe tomorrow I'll let you know why I support them - I'm sure it would be different if canal lengths-men were striking. PS. Gazza you will survive, just remember to boil the cabbage for two days... I don't think I have a pot big enough I'm not saying she's big, But when she goes swimming she has to wear a metal shield to deflect harpoons

You have much to learn about Union/Company/Government negotiations and the media representation of such. RMT were being criticised for not taking part in the planned talks last night, they new that technically they could not insist on attending but told ACAS/Southern Rail/Gov that they would be there and wishing to get a resolution. This morning RMT were effectively told to 'go away you don't matter' by Southern - not (in my opinion) the best way to resolve a long standing dispute.
