Just replaced 12 of my Festoon light bulbs for my overhead cabin lights with LED equivalents. Cost about £7 for the 12 from China including postage! Had to wait a few weeks for shipping though.
So far so good. Amazed at the reduction of power consumption. Effectively 600% improvement in efficiency.
Just orderd 6 x 21/5W bulb LED equivalents for the interior lamps for about £2.50.
Wish me luck! No bangs yet...

I'm doing the same, I replaced my two halogen lights with LEDs, and so far one of my fluorescent lights, I have three more to do as and when.

Switched our boat over to led lighting 4 years ago and the drop in power consumption is a real boon when out cruising. I did get some kitchen down lighters that only lasted about 18 months but everything else is still going strong.

Mind boggling with all the choice of led lights. About to get to soon and been looking for ages what to get. Still can't decide.

I did the same about 3 years ago and as Dave said they made a huge difference. I opted for Bedazzled which though more expensive gave a choice of white (cold light) or warm white (not so harsh) I had a mix of halogen, tungsten filament and fluorescent and spot lights and replaced the lot. Had no failures' yet Phil

Well the ones I got from China via Amazon are still working fine (fingers crossed) so I'm not convinced the prices from some UK outlets are reasonable. It may be worth buying ones which have the same fittings as your existing holders. At £20 a pop for each of my 14 overhead brass cabin lights that would have got expensive.

the last ones I changed were the fluorescent tubes in the engine room and stores (3 x 2 foot) big saving in power plus immediate brighter lighting !!!

Another vote for Bedazzled.
Very helpful, canal side on the G.U. and having converted all lights on board about 4 years ago, not lost one.
Previously, the cheap Chinese ones were either failing in days, or not working at all.
If the cheap ones work for you, well done.

We have been using LEDs for years, got them from a variety of suppliers but the last lot came from a UK supplier on ebay just because of the speed of delivery. Also had some direct from China, only had one fail but at the price can't complain. I've found that the COB type to be better in that they run cooler and are thinner.
I have noticed that some are worse than others for generating RF interface but I cured it by improving the aerial. So the problem may return in poor signal areas.
I'm finding the LEDs use about 10% of the power that the halogens did.

These are the sort of bulbs that are used in cars, for a shared indicator and parking ligt, or tail light and breaklight. Peter.

Yep, we find the switch quite useful depending whether we want to use one for background or reading.

I've said on here before, my pal is still using the 99p chinese LED's from the same supplier who's LED's either wouldn't work or failed quickly on my boat. I ended up spending around £30 on cheapos that failed, then bought 29 at about £8 each from Bedazzled. I would have been happy to stick with 99p each if they'd have worked for me. I know what I'd sooner have spent my two hundred plus quid on Rog
