I'm on 10-5 and Jane's on 3-7.
On the plus side, by 27 December, we've finished work until next October.
Sorry you have to work. Maybe a new year match.

Rog I like the sound (read ) of those hours lol... I'm "expected" to work through xmas as we're trying to meet a deadline to complete 3 things by April... apparently after that, the boss is going to give us all 3 months paid leave... Trouble is, he's not to be trusted - he'll say anything to get his own way and then something will come up. I won't be able to get 8 days owing holiday in before the end of March anyway so I'm going to stand my ground and refuse to work over xmas. Today will be rather trying as he's asked me to come into the office - presumably so he can try and bully me with no witnesses (ie the lads at work who usually back me up)... but I'm GOING to stand my ground and if he wants to sack me - they dont stand a chance of meeting the deadline and will end up sued by the client anyway.. ON the plus side, we've got our microwave xmas dinners sorted for the boat and will have a run out on xmas day :-)

Damn!
Working where you do is the gift that just keeps giving.
Stand your ground my friend. What difference is a couple of days off going to make to the job, but it'll make a huge difference to you.
I don't envy you your situation, but wish you well.

Many times during my working life I have had to work over Christmas and New Year. When I was in the Merchant Navy obviously, if you were at sea you had watches to stand, which meant you had to be sober.
I then worked in the entertainment industry for a while and Christmas/New Year was a very busy time (although gigs on Christmas day itself were not usual) but New Year......... well............ if you couldn't get a booking for New Years Eve !!!.
Later on, Office maintenance/alterations meant working over the Christmas break was common but I always tried to avoid Christmas Day (but I worked several New Year's eves/days)
To be perfectly honest now I'm retired I don't want to be idle over the holidays, I enjoy Christmas Day but I find several days idleness a bit of a bore

If I've worked out what you do correctly - you may have heard the phrase 'If you can't stand a joke, don't join'.... Pretty much what they said to me as I started my 8th year on nights over Christmas.

Cock up on the pension front means I have to do 32 years
