In an effort to add more boat related content...  Modern trad style, pretty sure the rain can't get in. I hope it's too much for a coolent leak. Engine barely gets run. Round the marina and back to get blacked. :embarrassed: The prop shaft greasing thing I have no experience of and have never turned it...until now. To me it seemed to turn quite easily for two or three turns then stiffen up, but still turn, so I have it a wee bit more, but stopped before you could describe it as hard to turn. Does that sound right? I can't think it can have come from anywhere else. |

It's about an inch deep and could have been filling up for months.

It's a good idea to give it a turn, just until it starts to feel tight, every time you've run the engine. If you've never turned it that is most likely the source of the water.
Do you have a hatch on the counter to access the weed hatch? If you do, that could be letting in a bit of rain water.

Our trad boat has a hatch above the weedhatch in the rear deck. It drains via a 3/4inch pipe which has a tendency to get restricted with leaves, dog hairs and other rubbish. So in light rain there is no problem, but heavy rain and it overflows into the boat. Worth a look if you have one like this.

So 2 or three turns as suspected points to some grease washed out. I'm still digging to get at the stern tube to see if it's still dripping and wishing I'd done that before turning the greaser. It would have been good to see it dripping then stop it with the greaser. Getting the water out is going to be fun.  I think I'll get a cheap windscreen washer pump. That there is nothing built in to pump it out and it's painted OK down there I think this is unusual for the boat. |

Ive a small pump/ pipe and battery for just that job...Ill be back on boat about 19.00 after work gimme a knock if you want it!

The plot thickens. Photo time. I have a triangular drip catching dam. It's dry inside, there was a dryish piece of cardboard lying in the bottom.  Luckily I spotted a drip ripple in the water and found this plastic pipe, about 10mm dia. Note also the copper one with a bit of electrical tape near the end. I only noticed this looking at the pic.  About a metre forward is the other end of the plastic pipe, taped onto another copper pipe. Bingo? It's heading towards the main heap of plumbing under the bed, I had the calorifier 1kw running. The drips were cold. It's an overflow, but for what? I'm going to tape it into that copper pipe. It looks like the copper pipe has been cut out to get the engine in/out and re-routed with plastic in a bodgetastic fashion.  |

Bugger, what I thought was copper pipe in first pic is wires shoved up an old rubber gas pipe.
Meanwhile I'd propped the end of the black one higher and it's stopped dripping...so far.

The shower is finished at least.  I've piled crap on the bed, but when I 've tied up that pipe properly and put all the covers back I'll find the other end of the pipe. I suspect some safety valve or other needs replacing, I'm pretty sure no system would be designed to overflow as normal behaviour. |

I don't think it ever actually "ends" ....... you just get to the end of that list I'm gradually working my way through the boat again re-doing things that I don't feel I got "quite right" the first time round or which I did so long ago that they are starting to need restoring !!! (and trying to introduce "improvements" and new ideas as well) |

Being polite and schooled in the way of boats she wouldn't board without permission which she wouldn't get, but anyway I've got her for last celebrity death 2016 so it's probably a mute point. |
