Had this bookmarked as the boat's in for blacking this year and I liked the sound of it. Clicked on it and the site's gone, did a Google search and the only references to it are on forums. It would seem the company/product no longer exists unless anyone else knows different?

Thats a blow as i did mine last year with it very easy to apply looks good and very resistant to diesel [ not that it matters as I have zinger below it] I can honestly say it was the easiest blacking I have ever done I have his number somewhere so will give him a call. Also the stuff was made in the Northeast I think I have that address as well will look for it

Interesting, mine is due, sent info request by email.
There was a bitumen/roofing materials factory 200m from my house with an open view of 3 huge silos full of white spirit, bitumen etc in the yard. I used to wonder what would happen if.... It did, hell of a bang, house shook, black smoke and flames going up 1/2 a mile, that was 4 years ago, they have just finished building houses on the site of the old mill.

The bomb fell about 1/4 mile from my mooring then. The railway fire I remember, seeing the smoke stacks going up. I was away after they had finished repairing the tunnel so didn't get to walk through on the open day. Apparently the engineering bricks were so strong that they just sintered, glazed on the surface and didn't need replacing. I remember seeing partially melted petrol tankers in the railway yard in Todmorden, looked like hand squashed coke cans.

Keelboat alive and kicking, got a prompt and informative reply to my email
Thanks for the enquiry. The failed website is a bit of bβ¦.r however it should be back up this week after being terminally hacked. Bring back the carrier pigeon.
A 35 footer will need just 2 x 5 litres for 3 coats on the sides(chine to gunnel but NOT the bottom - youβd need 3 x 5 litres total for that)
I attach the Guidance for Use sheet , Tech and Safety data sheets, Environmental statement and a FAQ which covers most of what new users ask. There are case studies on the website but I can send these as well if you wish. We have had nothing but praise for the product since we fully launched it at Crick last year. The product has been in use on canals for 4 years with the test user buying more each year (he is a commercial barge owner who docks annually).
It has been applied to about a hundred boats so far all with good results except one who failed to follow the instructions and one which we pulled out after a year showed no wear at all and was a doddle to clean off before we re-immersed it.
The big advantages are
Β· It is very easy and fast to apply, Β· Quick to dry (IF you put it on thinly) Β· It goes onto damp steel so no dehumidifying or steel-drying issues Β· It resists weed growth (the ducks HATE it) and deters freshwater molluscs Β· Itβs a lot cheaper than Intertuf and should last longer (accelerated wear tests show that it should last longer than 2-pack epoxy)
Coverage is 9 sqm / 1 litre (your vessel will be about 20 sqm x 3 coats = 60 sqm)
It goes over everything (so far we havenβt found any product it doesnβt stick to)
It WONT peel or flake but if it comes off it will be because the substrate was not properly adhered pot the hull/ steel so careful preparation on the first application is very important.
If applied thinly you can overcoat within 30 minutes so you can get three coats on in a day which should save you time and money. BUT you MUST let it cure β in the winter/ spring if the weather is damp (high humidity) you will need to keep the hull out of the water for a good 48 hours.
If you have rust, treat it with Fertan (used by BMW and Mercedes on all their cars) β we sell it as cheaply as anyone but you can get it on ebay and its terrific stuff.
Very happy to chat any of this through with you

Very happy to chat any of this through with you Hi Jim two of us did our boats with it, application is with short bristle wide brushes the cheaper the better. If the sun is shinning on it the brushes will be solid in minutes [it dries that fast] My boat was a an easy job as it was just to overcoat zinger blacking that had gone silver, Johns boat was heavily corroded it really covered it well getting into all the pits. It dries hard really hard, I cannot praise it high enough 20 litres covered two widebeams 3 times nice finish as well so enjoy the easiest blacking you will ever do.
