Last month i asked about wiring in a cig lighter, a job i am only just getting round to. It should be easy enough to get the cable threaded through to the back of the boat behind seating, kitchen/bathroom unit, under bed etc but would be a mare if it needed to be run in trunking. So does it need to be in trunking or can it be clipped where i can get clips or tie wraps and sleeve through bulkheads etc?

there is no requirement for it to be in trunking. your proposal should be fine.

Won't need to be in trunking, but it would be better installed nearer to the battery if possible. What do you need it for?

I got a couple of panel mounted sockets, they come in a variety of flavours, 2 or 4 gang, combination of V meter, USB, cig socket, switch. USB saves using adapter for gadgets.

As the other chaps have said no need for trunking, but i seen to remember that for the BSS it has to be supported at a certain distance. I will go and see if i can find it. Best to fit connectins if possible above gas fittings/lines for better safety. Dont forget an inline fuse

from BSS 3.3.1:
All electrical cables must be: · located where they will not be susceptible to impact or abrasion damage; or, · supported away from any structure or item of equipment likely to cause impact or abrasion damage; or, · contained in a conduit or cable tray supported away from it. Cables passing through bulkheads or structural members must be protected against chafing damage by the use of grommets, sleeves or sealant used effectively. Cable conduit or cable trays must be free of signs of overheating or damage.
