What is Tony Blair thinking of even suggesting another referendum just because he doesn't like the result of the last one. It really is very simple, the people were asked, the people made their decision and the result is leaving the EU was voted to be the choice of the majority We should just be pressing to get the deed done and dusted so we can all put it behind us and get on with the rest of our lives. Good or bad we shall have to crack on, stop whinging and make thee best of it Phil

Couldn't agree more. I was a firm remainer, but the results are in.
Following the FTSE 100 and FTSE 250, business seems to like the idea of getting out, and the prophets of doom, thus far have been proved utterly wrong.
A referendum, in a parliamentary democracy, is weak government in my view, and shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Oh John Smith, why did you have to die? your death gave the odious Blair the chance to lead Britain and become a pain in the arse on the wold stage after he'd cause almost irrevocable damage to a once great country. RIP John Smith, the greatest Prime Minister this country never had

He's playing "look at me". Probably drumming up some business preaching to the converted for oodles of cash.

He sold his soul to corporate interests, he does their bidding. They obviously aren't happy with the UK leaving the European union.

My political leanings and ideology developed with John Smith as leader of the Labour party, Blair swept to power in 97 and all looked right with the world, by 2004 things were looking bad, 2007 the job was well and truly fucked

He does seem to have become even more arrogant than he was when he was at the end of his PM-ship (and let's bear in mind I am an expert on arrogance). He's just living in cloud cuckoo land but of course there is a vacuum created by that nice man Mr Corbyn - who I quite like, but certainly don't want as PM.

Untold damage being done to the Labour party by Blair at one extreme and Corbyn at another.
I fear they are working hard to make themselves unelectable for a generation, and you can never have good government without an effective opposition. The Yin and Yang are essential ingredients for healthy government.

This sort of critical decision is what governments are for, surely?? *another term for "referendum" is "plebiscite" Pleb does not have to be pejorative.

I can't decide whether Blair is just arrogant in the extreme, highly deluded, insane, or a combination of all these things. He's generally discredited by all, including the vast majority of the party he used to lead. Given this, a little humility would be called for, you'd think. Not a bit of it. He comes out all guns blazing, seemingly unaware that the vast majority of people either ignore his words or otherwise, hold them in utter contempt.
He could disappear from public life and continue to make fortunes from his business interests.
I really don't understand the guy.
