Well it's down again now so I won't have to suffer it for a while at least. Yes I was looking for an old thread using google search and it kept saying the server wasn't working. I wonder if everything will still be there going back to the early days? Must be a huge database !

I wonder if everything will still be there going back to the early days? Must be a huge database ! Yeah, everything should still be there. The database is backed up daily so it's only the front end that's changing. There were a few glitches when it was up yesterday like any post in the FAQ section couldn't be replied to. There are some nice things with the new skin when using a mobile - like you get an indication when a PM arrives. Excessive amounts of scrolling is the biggest downside that I noted.

I only had a quick look. These days so many companies keep changing their sites into something some burk thinks is 'trendy and innovative' when it's the just same old dog's dinner re-hashed. Usually the 'better' version is worse. for a change, I have to agree with summat you said. the new CWDF site looks more like a company training presentation for new starters, with little substance but using lots of screen (think A1 flip pads), and less like a useful tabulation of information showing all the latest updated threads on a small screen.

First move in a change to a wiki ?

I haven't been contributing much to either forum recently, but the new style is probably the death knell for CWDF for me - it's complete pants. I don't want followers - I enjoyed having friends. Its a shame, because recently the mod situation has seemed better with the demise of Lady C and her ilk. Athy has taken to modding with aplomb and doing it like it should be did, (if it needs did at all of course).
It just seems that Daniel has found a new way to piss off the forum reactionaries like me...

There's valuable life lessons for us all in that, don't you think? 1. If it isn't broken leave well alone 2. People are generally conservative by nature and will resist change 3. CWDF is shit Rog

I don't like it. The previous format was great, and probably accounted for much of its popularity. I'm not sure this change will do it any favours. Far too clinical.

with the demise of Lady C and her ilk Oh, she's buggered off, has she? Fuck it all up, upset everyone - and then walk away? How about the Wriggly.Thing-from-the-Black-Lagoon? And the Bag-of-Bones? Wiggly is still modding. Baggy and Lady called are not but can only find out members who are online and not the whole list.

Well I popped over to have a look to see what you were talking about but it was down so I couldn't see.
If people are complaining it will be much the same as the last time they changed the format. Probably the same ones who are moaning about the change now are the same ones who were moaning about the change to the last format from the previous one, yet eventually they got used to it but are now moaning again.

The dustbin is up and running - no more updates from MtB and Alan Fincher.

Nope can't get on with that! I'm sure I would if I spent enough time on there nowadays but... Do you think they are trying to scare us off?!

Why are they showing love-hearts instead of 'likes' on posts, yet have no record anywhere of the accumulated number in the profile section, nor what posts have gained such 'reputation'?

I reckon it's just the pet of some nerdy IT man who loves to do updates and stuff.
let us hope that the site owner tells him it's pants and refuses to pay.
