Moved in a EA marina a year ago. Was told by the manager that day that when my yearly contract runs out on 31 March 2017 i can just walk out on that day without no hassles.and without telling them..i didn't read my contract as wen I was going to read it he just turned around and said are it's a waste of time looking at it as its already whot we just spoke about .so I signed it in good faith of whot he told me earlier And they carnt do anything etc .Come yesterday the 3 march 2017 I had knock on my boat. It was the manager of marina asking if I'm renewing my moorings.i said no I won't be as I'm leaving on 31st March 2017. He then asked where im going too.thought to myself mind your own business you cheeky fuker. then he said that then they'll will be a administration fee of 50 quid. Whats that for picking up a biro and writing down that the boater is leaving .Ive just told him I'm leaving so why the administration fee eh?.and I've still got 3 weeks left yet before my contract ends. I told him I will not be paying it. He said that they will take it out my bank. I said no you won't as I pay by standing order. He just went away. If they do take the money out my bank is that classed as theft? .its just another con to make money from people. And if they do succeed with the 50 quid. Then I will make sure that I never waste a penny in a EA moorings again. So its there loss of revenue.there always someone in life trying to mess with your life why not fuc off and leave me be

AFAIK.
A standing order can only be amended by the payer, the receiving person can only recieve it. So once you cancel it they can't do anything.

Thank you for the reply.but wen I first moved in here I was paying by direct debit so they have my details. BUT when EA made a cock up with payments ages ago. I then changed it to standing order only

Have you checked the wording in the contract? They may have sneaked in a clause about the "free beer" fee you mention.

It would be worth checking the "small print" of the contract you presumably signed up to, just in case it turns out that not paying the £50 makes you the robbing criminal. Although I have to say that I've never heard of a marina charging an "exit fee". Did he tell you what the £50 was for?

Indeedy, did you not ask what the 'fee' was for? 'Administration' means what - picking up a pen and staring out the office window for ten minutes? Name the marina and we can all write to them and ask what this mysterious surprise fee is!!!

Looked through the mooring contract doesn't make no sense to me.im trying to put it on here but aving probs.its all double dutch. As far as I'm concerned my one year contract ends on 31st March 2017 I'm not renewing it .and like the marina bloke said when i first came in here i can walk out when it ends.and they carnt do nothing he said.so it's ends then.and won't be here. I told him I'm leaving wen he came knocking on boat 3rd March 2017.and I also will be putting in in writing too wen I give the gate keys back. He said it was for administration cost.50 pound

I cycled through Northampton Sept 2012, took a photo of narrowboats in a marina there on south side of city centre, perhaps it was that one. How about asking the other residents if they know anything about this fee for "Administration".

There's an EA Thames mooring agreement here: EA Thames Mooring AgreementI know Andy is on EA Anglian waters but I would expect the contract terms to be similar. The only reference anywhere to an "administration charge" is in respect of any alteration or damage to the berth: 2.16 Damage to the Berth / Site You must not:- (a) damage or allow to be damaged; (b) alter, add-to or deface; or allow to be altered, added to or defaced the Berth or any part of the Site in any way. If any of these things happen, the Environment Agency will charge You for the cost of the making good (including a reasonable sum for administration).
Are they suggesting that you have damaged, altered or defaced the site in any way?

If a leaving fee is payable by everyone, then why not include it in the first charge?
As above... has Andy been having barbeques on the platform...?!

Andy, send me a message giving pontoon name and number and I will pop round. I am all too familiar with these contracts but there are 3 different types. I need to know which one you have.

Hi Andy, either messaging is not working for me or I don't know how to use it. Can you post your location in the Marina so we can meet up.
