I've made a little saloon table with an old shove ha'penny board that we played with when I was a kid. the desmo floor socket was in the boat already. The bottom bit of the pole in the socket wobbles from side to side a bit. Annoying. I don't know if its wear or normal as I've not used desmo stuff before. The table top will move sideways a bit if leant on. Obviously awkward with children.. Is it worth replacing the socket or is there a better option which is more secure. Its a dinette/double so must be removeable. Attachments:

is the tapered end of the pole bottoming in the socket? Saw a bit off.

Good idea jimriley - will check that.
Mr Fox - it needs to be removeable.

It will still be removable. It's just that it will have a Desmo socket/plate attached to it. OK, so you'll have a hole. Put another Desmo socket in that for ambiance. Or you could leave it open, fill it with water, chuck in some goldfish and give the kids rods.

Two desmo legs.
That's how our cockpit table is arranged. Its about the same size as yours.
One is OK for a little round drinks table

We've got one Desmo socket + leg for a hefty table, two clips holding it to wall. Pretty solid.

Clips won't work as I have to get right round it. I expect twin legs might do it. Or maybe I should have a play with some of my stupidly powerful magnets.

When I put our cockpit table in I treated Mrs Gazza to a travel iron and a custom made MDF ironing board that used the same desmo legs. Ungrateful cow has never used it

Could you not wrap some shim stock around the leg to take out the play? Something like this.......... LINKComes in different thicknesses as you can see.

She had a rotary one for her birthday 16 years ago, it's starting to get tatty so she's likely to get a new one this year.
