Re-commissioned my chainsaw this week as a tree had blown down on the marina in the storm. Had a good 3 hours cutting off the best accessible branches and dragging them back to the garden. Also chopped up some old seasoned branches that we dragged out of the undergrowth. Last week we got 3 tender loads of wood from where they had been felling several trees to create new moorings and I've started to cut that into fire sized logs for seasoning over the summer. I do enjoy a good session on the chainsaw, and free wood is always welcome.

Powered by elbow grease I did a professional tree felling course years ago with a Stihl 024. After that I decided to continue with the swede saws for my firewood as I am prone to being a dick with tools very occasionally (motor skill/concentration issues) and a chainsaw won't forgive this sort of thing. I'm not a fitness freak at all but I can convert surprising amounts of wood with these things. One important thing is clean sharp good quality blades - often overlooked as it is with the chains on the amputation machines.
