Indeed it was Callisto. Rog The tight-fisted Yorkshireman will be fuelling me up tomorrow. You must be in my part of the world, give me a hoot as you come past if you spot me, I'm two bridges past Rose Narrowboats, on the right.

Give Cally a pat from us.
We're heading back to Braunston and then down the GU to London.
Enjoy your trip.

Don't do rivers unless we have to. I like terra firma.......and the more the firma the less the terra! We did some Thames, Oxford down to Reading, to access the K&A. We went on the clipper to do the stretch by Parliament. I know you loved it, but it's not our thing. I'd be happy on rivers in a river boat......but stuff it in a tin bath Rog

Nicely put I go on the tideway quite regularly in my boats (both wider than 7ft but they both roll shockingly). I never did it when I had narrow boats. Inward bound Limehouse to Teddington I usually go for an early exit about 5.30am (summer). Coming back down is always a bit unrelaxing although last summer I chose to come down on the end of the tide and go on the waiting pontoon (advance permission and boat must be manned while waiting). That way the River is a bit less rough due to lower state of tide. Its very rough down there as the tide comes back in but I prefer to be at the destination rather than worrying about whether I will make it ok. The Clipper is great.
