It hasn't rained for three years Foxy. How can that be sorted? I Google earthed it earlier, I can't see how anyone could live there. What, do you mean their local branch of Harvey Nicks has closed down? Signed NickMarieAntoinetteNormanAkaTelemachus Aka nickolarse.

I am very ambivalent about sending aid to countries that regularly suffer drought and famine. I was also very surprised to learn that what I had always assumed to be a sparsely populated country (Ethiopia) has a population of 100 million, so it's not surprising that they can't feed and water themselves when things get tough. We are going to see more and more of this as an ever increasing population spreads out across barren land and tries to make a living off it. Historically humans spread across the globe because they were seeking out better places to grow crops and hunt. Animal species die out wherever the land can no longer support them.
There is in my view only one answer for the survival of our species - the global population must be brought down to sustainable numbers. If this can't be done through birth control and education then nature will do it for us. Unfortunately nature seems to try to ensure the survival of the species by encouraging the creation of more and more individuals in threatened areas. How do I square that with images of starving children? I don't know the answers, but continuing to send aid to corrupt countries will not make an iota of difference in the long run. The only thing that may make a difference is universal education, but that doesn't help the plight of today's suffering children. Doing away with religious do-gooders would help.

SWMBO is from an Irish Catholic family.
Along with most of her 11 siblings she has totally rejected papism, with no pressure from me; I believe the same applies to most of Ireland. A good thing too.
My idea of a trouble free future for this cruel world - the world in general rejects all forms of fairy worship and stands apart from those who continue to peddle the politics of hate in the name of their own 'One God'. They are the demons, not us.

I tell the doorstepping Jovahs and Mormans they don't stand a chance, I was inoculated with Catholicism. I now have immunity from religion.

They have visited me a couple of times - 'would you like to talk about God for a few minutes?'
I launch into a nonsense monologue about various religions and stuff, until their eyes glaze over and then I stop and ask them to leave.

My chum ('retired' from the elite forces) took your game to another level. Invited the Holly Rollers in, made coffee and put Bowie on his impressive sound system. While explaining the reality of Star Man he rolled a big joint and insisted they had a toke or two. They didn't come back. We visited our mate regularly after he was sectioned. Back on topic. I give to charity. As a Muslim I am obliged to rather as Christians in days gone by gave The Tithe, a tenth of surplus. The charity I support is non denominational and focused on back up support rather than headline grabbing stuff. Oh! Look! Red Shit day is coming 'round again! Self promotion day for ageing co-co nuts, has beens and the sad. HO! HUM! That's the way the money goes.

Aid to Africa has only achieved a rise in the birth rate in places that have no infrastructure or resources to support the population, it is pointless to give aid to Africa until they have the means to use it wisely. In fact the do gooders are ensuring more people continue to die.

Even your family and friends need your time sometimes.

Even your family and friends need your time sometimes. Back in the 1990s I contacted a charity raising funds for Romanian orphans, explaining that I was an HGV driver and I was willing to take humanitarian aid to Romania free of charge and the reply I got was basically" No thanks, we just want your money". The CEOs of all of these charities earn a mint, the chairmen of Oxfam and Christain Aid are on £120,000 salaries. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/11435754/32-charity-bosses-paid-over-200000-last-year.htmlI regularly give a homeless person a couple of quid to spend on whatever he wants, even though I'm near skint myself but I won't give organised charities fuck all.

I do not give to organised charities except the ones my son is raising funds for..and that is because I want to support his endeavour....though my contribution goes directly to support the cost of the challenge and not to oil the wheels of the charities themselves. I donate to local small charities as and when I feel it will go to where its needed. I will not give to support fat cat salaries.
These big charities seem to have the same mind set as big business and seem to have lost focus on fact that the money should not be creamed off to pay mega bucks for their ivory Gods sitting in towers controlling distribution of money and aid. Such is now the way of the world.
