I once read about the Teletubbies being a bit 'sick' and that they were the invention of the man who created Rosie and Jim. I find Rosie and Jim a bit creepy.

"Was he a man who had been turned into a scarecrow? A scarecrow somehow made sentient? I could never quite work that out. Either way, Jon Pertwee's Worzel was a terrifying screen presence. He had three heads that he would swap. He once threw a scarecrow rival, Dafthead, off a bridge into the path of a moving train. His catchphrase was "I'll be bum-swizzled". The DVDs are inexplicably rated PG by the BBFC. We demand reclassification as an 18 for sheer terror." "My childhood traumas about these creepy humanoid creatures has been revived over recent weeks thanks to X Factor finalist Luke Friend's worrying resemblance to the shifty Riddlers, Mossop and Tiddler. While I'm on the subject of terrifying puppets, Tots TV and Rosie and Jim still have a lot of sleepless nights to answer for as well." www.digitalspy.com/tv/news/a527635/8-unintentionally-scary-childrens-tv-characters-that-still-terrify-us/

I totally agree about Rosie and Jim, there is a boat we used to go past that had them pressed against the window and they look quite menacing, I could always picture them with a knife..........

We know a real Rosie and Jim who live on a narrow boat. We first met them on the K&A a few years ago and still bump into them occasionally on the GU South in the winter months.

My daughter presented me with a pair for Xmas! About 30" tall. She thought I'd appreciate them, bless! Apparently they are worth a bit in good condition, which they are. At 30" they are too tall to hang by a noose in the boat window.
What's the protocol on selling presents a loved one has bought you?

Can't you use them as front & rear fenders?

I've got some rather odd items brought by loved ones and my dad kept the first present he ever gave his mum..it was a pottery gnome and when he died I gave it a home...it had stayed in one piece 67 years and on bringing it into Horror House it lost a foot....post my fix Mr Gnome sits on a window cill.

I've mentioned it before, so feel no shame mentioning it again...
Those two little dolls are growing on me - not by choice but they are now head and shoulders above Thomas and Friends in the popularity contest in our house. I don't get a lot of say in it but they are way more easier to have on than whining Bing or that narsacistic little pig Peppa.
Pops is getting the Dwarf a couple of DVDS so she can enjoy Rosie and Jim on the boat, I may feel differently about them by the end of the summer!
