£1 = 1.15 Euros today. It was £1 = 1.40 when we bought our British cash last May. The fact is, that the Pound has dropped - why I can't say - so you all should get your fingers out and do some work instead of just moaning! In 2008/2009 £1 = around 0.95 Euros so low rates of exchange are nothing new. That isn't true. It has never dropped below 1/1 although it got close for a very short period of time in late 2008.

True, the official exchange rate never dropped below €1 but at that time the man in the street buying Euros for his holiday received less than €1 from the banks and travel agents.

We have been boating in France since 2006 and have never had a rate worse than £1 = €1.08 which was some time around 2008 ish (can't remember exactly). Roger

Well, another work day behind me and a pocket full of Euros! I really do hope the Pounds sinks right into the gutter, say £1 for 10 Euro cents? That'll suit us nicely.

Complicated, all this exchange rate business. Going back a couple a decades, when there was a bit of a clamour for Britain to adopt the Euro, the suggested 'day 1' exchange rate was just under 2 Euros to one Pound. So, had we gone with this at the time, we might all be richer (in relative, world terms) than we are today. Or at least, those with assets at that time would be richer today.
This isn't an advert for Britain to join the Euro by the way, I'm a staunch Brexiteer, just saying like.
