I believe the water quality in the UK is not a lot better than many European countries, and I have heard that the Spanish regularly get tummy upsets while they acclimatise to our water, which contradicts the usual belief that their water is not as clean as ours. Which goes to prove your point to some extent. What makes you think that? I get the impression that UK water is perfectly safe. I'd be interested if you can show otherwise.

I haven't voted yet as I'm genuinely curious as to what others like. But Braunston Pickle is a good accompaniment. Hot or cold? Well, I don't heat the pickle! I also like English Mustard with my PP. I don't like PP's straight out of the fridge, best at room temp. I see from the poll that everyone (just about) eats them cold.

Hot with mushy peas and mint sauce. But they must be West Yorkshire pies with the light pastry. Not the greasy MMickey Mowbray ones which must always be eaten cold with Branston Pickle (unless you can find some Braunston pickle of course). Who makes a good West Yorkshire pie? I'm moving to Barkisland.

I lived in Spain for years, the tap water there is better than here. I never got ill from it.

How odd... the forum won't let me type M e l t o n because it keeps changing it to MMickey. When you go to the JOHN, you don't want your BELT ON you need to undo it to remove your trousers.

I can show you otherwise: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camelford_water_pollution_incident Britain's worst mass poisoning event. Inquests on people who died many years later found very high levels of aluminium in the brain.

But that was a one-off, almost 30 years ago! Does not reflect current water quality across the UK.

Between Slaithwaite and Sowerby Bridge. We drove through a few times last Summer. Nice hilly scenery! We like Halifax and Huddersfield. www.examiner.co.uk/whats-on/food-drink-news/cheers-fleece-countryside-inn-barkisland-9680064

The water in the area I lived in came from a mountain spring, they also bottled and sold it. The main point being, Spanish water isn't bad and doesn't make you ill like many British tourists believe.

Each to their own but swmbo & I took her father for a birthday treat to The Fleece a few years ago. We found the staff to be rude and supercilious with many of the patrons loud and arrogant. The food was overpriced and of average quality. We decided very quickly never to return.

Thanks for the tip! We have already been there! Great beer, (TT Landlord), food and service. Might stay there during our move.
