No, that is the correct way to do it and doesn't use up storage space. Anyway, you can't do it the wrong way now as D9 has disabled the function.
What about on a tablet /mobile phone /touch screen when there is no mouse to 'right click'? On an Apple device, a long press on the image then select Copy from the pop up menu. I don't have an Android device so I don't know about them, but it will be something similar.

If you use the Tapatalk mobile version of this site you can upload directly to your post and Tapatalk site hosts the picture.

For Android (having looked it up) long press on the image brings up View or Save. Click View, the image opens in a new window. The image URL is thus in the address bar and you can copy the text in the usual way.

Tapatalk is a kind of front end program to view and post in all Tapatalk enabled forums you might use at once. It's a wee bit like Facebook in the way it presents itself. Apart from the ease of inserting pictures from my phone, even directly from the camera, straight into a post it's not my cup of tea but it's great for that.

So if I find an image I want to use,I normally right click on the image then copy the image address, then click insert image on the screen control and paste the image address in,then click insert image. Am I being a norty boy for using up storage space? That's what I've been doing. Apart from a few fox moving emoticons/emojiis a few months back. So... have I been doing anything wrong?

Like this?
Looks like this was a failure going on Foxies post below. Actually it is /was a helicopter about to land (?) on a offshore construction vessel

Is that for me? It leads to an unaccessible page. Any Google Photos links I have added are simply (surely?) just a line of text - that will take you to my Google Photos account which is nothing at all to do with Thunderboat's computer memory/storage. Educate me if I am wrong.
(some of my older links go nowhere as I have deleted the photos from my Google Photos account, but I have stated this here before wiping them. They are history, and of no relevance any more. I believe the links to our Summer photo albums 1-7 still work, and photos taken since then).

The only Google Photos links on Thunderboat are mine (I think). How did you manage to copy and paste that - unless, er, you did copy and paste it?! Either it's a valid link with a bit chopped off, or a link that now goes nowhere because I've deleted the photos and the link no longer exists. I don't remember any helicopter pictures - our in-house helicopter pilot may be along shortly to elaborate.

I have posted links to google photos, created with Direct Link Creator, it gives a bit of code to paste that puts up the picture, not a link to a picture. sites.google.com/site/gdocs2direct/Portpatrick, nr Stranraer, we went for a break between hospital visits last week. Isle of Man in the distance, 10 miles away.

Quite clearly I dont know how to copy links to photographs in my google photo account using an android ver 6.0.1 tablet. Anyway never mind I will move on with other things I need to resolve.🤗

I've had no formal computer education - and it is so confusing as nobody else seems to know. One thing I hate is when you ask someone for advice they just grab the mouse and start faffing about - and it's clear they really don't know what they're doing either. Can't they just sit and explain in words whilst you do the mouse tricks?

Open Google drive and go to the pic you want (not via Google photos!) get / copy the share link (the link you normally post as just a link not a pic, foxy). Open drive direct link generator, paste the share link into the box, copy the new generated link and paste that into your post.
(as for the woman, she was nice, enjoyed my time in Portpatrick. If you look closely she's waving and saying "bye bye big boy"!)
