Fingers crossed.

Still beneaped ....... this mornings tide (forecast 6.26) just made 6.0. I need a 6.2 that makes !!! We tried winching the bow across but it grounded about a third of the way round. No point in leaving her stuck half way so winched it back alongside again. I think I need the wheels that Tony suggested !!! Oh well, I need to try and stay positive ....... there is still tomorrow !!! Following this with interest John. How's it going?

Fingers crossed for you John. Haven't seen a forecast all day. The moon's on the wax,so hopefully the tides are getting a bit bigger for you.

Well that's me well and truly shafted This mornings predicted 6.3 metre tide failed to make even 6.0 metres. From now on this month the tides are dropping,. So unless there is a dramatic change in the weather in the next 24 hours that is it, until the end of May, when there is another small group of tides of 6.2m and 6.3m. Yesterday I arranged that if this tide didn't make, the chap with the digger would excavate the area over which I have to swing as a paying job (as opposed to a slightly rushed favour ) if he can level off about 9 or 10 inches that will give me a fighting chance. ( Compared to the amount I have spent getting ready for this trip his fee is peanuts) Although I am very disappointed, there is no point in getting really upset ....... being be-neaped is just something that can happen when you boat in shallow seas Somebody in the yard was asking what I would do if I can't get off next month either ..... I told them I'd put Shapfell back in the water and go and play in the canals for the summer and have another go with Sabina in the autumn, I can't go a summer without boating I don't really have any other options ....... with the greatest respect to Tony, wheels are out !!!

Does the situation still look like this? Yes Ross ....... just like that To give an idea ........ the predicted 6.3 metre tide should have been just over the planking of the walkway So you can see from the waterline there should have been plenty of depth for me to swing the bow (which only draws 2 foot) across the reeds. 6.0 metre is too low 6.2 metre is enough We regularly get tides that go over the jetties SAM_0073 by mudlarker2, on Flickr

Methinks what is needed is one of Kim Jong Un's nukes to blow it out of the oozing, clutching, sucking Essex mud.

How many tons would you need to remove from your boat to reduce the draft by 20cm?

How many tons would you need to remove from your boat to reduce the draft by 20cm? Well I believe she loads about 2.5 tons to the inch so say 20 ton or so ? ..... trouble is she only has 10 ton of ballast a ton of diesel and a ton and a half of water. so it's not a practical proposition to lighten her

OK, so a few helium balloons tied to the rails aren't going to work then...
