You forgot "moped-riding". sigh.... I choose my method of two-wheeled transport for its ability to be lifted on and off the bow deck single-handed by an unhealthy and unfit person who is on the cusp of getting reduced price admission to museums and steam railways, not for its macho appeal, that's what the trucks are for and I get paid for driving them...

I like the 'Yellow Peril'..saw a group of nearly old geezers on Vespa type bikes down in Tenby and I thought..'Bless'....

Well, I kind of liked the Mong's list even if I didn't entirely understand all of it, and felt it only right to make a contribution.

Well, hence why I said may or may not. I know that if there was no fire system in place then they would be in serious serious trouble. If someone silenced an alarm without knowing if there was a fire or not then they will be in serious shit, including possable jail time. It's a reasonable presumption to make that yes they have a system in place and no it was not activated. All depending on the fire policy - you are projecting what your experience is to other situations.
Likewise I project my experiences of managing complex (fairly modern) fire alarm systems over several undergrounds stations/tunnels and with interfaces at numerous places with an international airport.
You are factually incorrect in some of your assumptions.
Actually i was using my experience of meetings with Hampshire fire and Rescue. To silence an alarm without checking is a big no no in their book, even if only one sensor was activated. what is incorrect, I like to learn, I can see how in such a large place like an airport that it needs more than one sensor as evacuating an airport is probably serious stuff But I can only go by what the experienced fire team say And that was a blanket rule. I used to live in a scissor block, where you had multiple floors and alternate flats went up or down. Sadly its sister block had a fire and two fireman sadly died. They realised the existing leglislation did not work in those types of tower blocks. HfRS and other national agencies got to rewrite the rules. I was lucky enough to have worked with them as they used our block as the training ground to work out the new rules. That's my experience other than working in retail for 18 years. I will note that some social landlords are exempt from certain regs. Likewise you are using your vast knowledge of commercial/private sectors I am just using my limited knowledge of residential places. Bet you had a big job after the few underground fires.

Any way, eye witnesses say there were no alarms. So irrelevant

Same here, but that was also with staff onsite - we had 2 minutes to make the initial call (CCTV was used) and a total of 8 minutes to make the final call. Not sure how things work in a un-staffed remotely monitored tower block such as Grenfell though

The biggest problem was that all the Fire Escape signs were written in English. Oh god, the fecking idiot, yorkie munching, prostitute murdering, communist, Russia lover, bridge basher, moron/spastic/mong accuser, illegal knife holder, fat middle to old age git, Charlton supporter, closet racist, womens moped rider. has spoken! Leave out the reference to Down's syndrome and cerebral palsy and I'll agree.
