Fantastic, I've done the Mont as far as Queen's Head (there was a stoppage at the locks just after the A5) and it really is a very different canal to anything else I've ever been on, it's a SSSI and there is fauna and flora that I've never seen anywhere else. I presume you know you have to book it?

Ive had a day trip with him from Maesbury, as you say it's a wonderful peaceful place, I've heard The Navigation at Maesbury has shut down which will be a shame if true!

We actually liked Wigan.
Mind you we live in Rotherham, so I suppose we have low standards.
Still not managed to post a photo despite Gazza's excellent instructions.

We wuz in Wigan 2 weeks ago and thought it was OK. That was our last launderette stop. The pub at the top of the locks is a bit grotty though. The market is good - bought some gorilla glue and a tiny frying pan from there.

Elizabeth is, or was, Jim MacDonald's boat. Been around Europe, it used to be moored in Croxley on the GU. Probably still based there.
Elizabeth is one of the first conversions of a former unpowered narrow boat (Joey boat) into a motorised pleasure narrow boat. Its an unusual design with the mollycroft roof but quite a sensible approach as it gives more access around the exterior of the vessel.
Gardner engine, possibly a 4LK.

The boat appears in photos of the very first IWA rally at Market Harborough in the 1950's.
I'd love to have a nosey around it.
It looks terrific to me.
