Again nowt to do with boating but Im having a little celebration....KNOTWEED treatment completed this afternoon...hurrah..3rd year...now we go onto watch n wait...oh yes zeee chilled vino a must have to-day... I've edited my original post to include houses, no reason anyone, least of all Patty should be left out π»π And to get into the spirit of inclusiveness this is why I'm a week or so behind on the boat. The Dwarf love's it, the slide can be connected to a garden hose making it bonkers slippy. The swing frame doubles up as a swing bench for me and Mrs Gazza, I also got an adult sized swing seat so we can fit on it with the dwarf. Cost a fair bit less to make from scratch than buying a ready made kit.

Well done. Still boxing up stuff to go to auction here. First lot sold for more than Β£500 and that was stuff that I thought was garden junk and was considering burying it. How the hell did I end up owning over 60 mugs and 150 glasses I dont know...

My eldest son had similar amount in a flat he rented....guess who had to wash them all up when he moved... by the time I moved down here had no glasses left so a old friend who decluttered donated his...daughter hates the mismatched sets...seems to upset her OCD traits...me I love the individuality.. Hope you sell all your stuff..

Undoing "improvements" of earlier owners has been my main job on Shapfell. Although being totally ignored (on hardstanding) this year and possibly most of next she would only require a couple of hours work to get her ready to go, maybe 3 days to get her fully back smart again. Sadly I was given a bit of ply from Northern Star's engine compartment, it was too small in all dimensions so no good for use on Fairlight. It seems such a shame to chuck it on the bonfire. I can't think of anywhere I'd likely use it. I did try to put my mate off of chopping the fit out about, too no avail I'm afraid

busy day in the drydock new bed for second generator installed sea catches fitted to engine room hatches Fuel tank emptied and first cuts made to re-align tank with the permanent twist in Sabina's hull (the reason for my diesel bug problem) when this is finished the sump and drain tap will be at the lowest part of the tank. tomorrow's job to remove the (very) worn bronze sacrificial backplate for the sand trap from the end of the propshaft tube (might be a bit interesting as it looks as if it's been there since the thirties) still waiting the return of the hydraulics man with his quote. still lots of keelblack to put on ...... let alone topside paint

Some good news...
Whilst going through stuff that has been boxed up for the last 5 years, I discovered I didn't throw away the Tibetan Prayer Wheel - one of those finds that brings back so many memories and will make it to the boat with me.

Carry on decluttering..you'll find many treasures...just remember boats are much smaller than houses

Is this for the dinghy project? I'm gonna cheat when I come to do our rubbing strakes, I will most likely laminate up some hardwood strips around the bow, bugger bending oak, iroko or whatever I end up using

It was for the cruiser seating/berths trim which is 46x27mm Sapele. It was strain to bend it at first but once it was profiled it bent, just. The Sapele i used for the strake bent around the bow easy dry, from memory it is 65mmx 20mm. I was thinking today if i could get the Sapele ( 65x20 ) to bend around the bow point to finish it, i want to make a SS bow point though for the roller to fit onto.

That is what i have done but used a length of drainage 110mm pipe. Drill a 12mm hole and used a 1/4 BSPT equal union to tighten up nice into it. This also fits the steamer thread Just didnt get to fit the supports for the timber and get the caps for the ends of the pipe and temp gauge. Will come in handy when i get around to needing it lol. Had that steamer for about 8 years i bet and still works after being stuck in the back of the shed.

Well, tonight I fitted a waterproof 12v socket to the control column, handy for stuff such as tyre compressor for the push bikes, or our electric cool box. I've also just taken delivery of a set of filters so will be giving the engine and gearbox a service this weekend ready for our holiday at the end of the month. With regard to my faulty tacho/hour counter I'm going to replace the whole thing with a Wema unit, just over Β£70 complete and just note it in my log book so I can still know my engine hours, although I realise they're not essential. Just want to get a few jobs squared away so I can relax and just enjoy our two week cruiseππ
