Check with CRT as a couple of bloggers stopped by to say hello to me this afternoon - apparetnly they came through the lock today as it's open for an hour on a morning and an hour in the afternoon for passage.... THEIR boat is beautiful - bespoke build by "proper" people on a J Wilson hull... the green eyed monster is currently with me! Johny makes a lovely shell I should know mine is one, I was chatting to him today he says he could sell every shell they make to punters but they now just make them for Finesse, Tim makes the ones for the punters and other boat fitters. I have a couple of pictures on my fone I will download them and post its some detail work on a sheffield size lovely stuff shame to paint them really the Sheffield size boats he makes are about the only new widebeams I've seen that I like.

I prefer his Brigantines its because of the curves, the Shefield size is all about the space, from owner comments they dont sail as well as mine or the Brigantine

We went through woodnook yesterday afternoon - the "sign" hand written on the locks above says operation from 2.30 - 3.30 but a crt chap in a van arrived about half 1 and penned another boat and us down stream (even though the lock was empty) leaving another boat waiting to come up on the river that was there first... apparently it's quicker that way lol... no arguments from us.

It doesn't really matter on river locks, no water shortage, but to say "it's quicker that way!" FFS, I thought all the chocolate teapots were in management.

IGNORING that, Today on our route BACK from Leeds, we got stuck on the river going upstream at the lock AT the allotted time as they had divers in (2 of them) trying to mend it... the river went into red which was a bit hairy as there were 3 narrowboats and an enormous grp all double breasted up on the knackered pontoon for 2 and half hours .... IN the end, they got it temporarily mended and we got away.

as awful as expected... gay pride is not my cup of tea - the security was a joke.... searching folk - removing their own alchaol (so the pubs could charge 18 quid for 3 pints of lager and coke) yet NOT ONE of the "searches"... noticed (or maybe cared about) the stanley knife in my "boaters shorts".... not one! Foxy came along for a pint though and I introduced him to Andy ... you can see how com fortable he was ;-) Closet lol

Pity he didn't have the 'rusty knees' that day.
It would have been in keeping with the colour scheme.
Fancy leaving a knife in your pocket in the hope of getting frisked!

It was certainly a colourful event! I was there in between ringing the bells at Wakefield Cathedral. Bob Doubles in the morning and Plain Hunt on 9 in the evening.

We were in Manchester one year for their Pride parade.
Great fun.
