One other thing to mention is the louvered windows. Not only can they be bloody draughty but also they can be a weak spot regarding security.
I cant recall if Rosemary's were glued in place (it was ages ago we were on her) but if not it's something to consider doing.

If it goes cheap enough it wont be a bad buy. With every layout their are things that you dont like so its cheap the money is there to sort it. A stove isnt expensive so it can be sorted. The pitting well that has to be seen to be judged upon, but again if localised not the end of the world. I would like to buy her for 8-9k at that she would be a good buy give it a whirl

The "survey details" appear to be rather odd because the builder and year are "not established" but they are advertised in the listing so the owner apparently knows this. I would have thought that was a bit of a basic thing for a surveyor to look at.
4mm pit depth in baseplate visible with blacking ? Hmm. And its supposed to be a 10mm base. But it could be 6mm (1/4"). If it was 10mm what's the overplating all about? Does seem a bit of a strange situation. I would have expected the sides to be thinner but I suppose if it had been rubbing on the ground it could have worn away the base plate ?
The wording used sounds like someone who has been looking at sea boats and is not familiar with narrow boats.
Maybe its a survey from before the current owner bought it (2017 rather than 2018). And the current owner has discovered some shit of some sort as well as an apparent builder / year.
Anyway 1989 isn't that old but...
Looks interesting but the "survey" details seem pretty dodgy.
I agree that under £10k it'd probably be worth a go but expect some nasties.

I sent them a message about various things and this is what they come back with. P.S. the boat is still for sale, no buy it now price & the bidding is on £7,500 at the mo.
As far as the BSC is concerned I think it will pass easily (just my opinion). I really don't know the answer on cost to repair pitting because it will depend on how it looks after the blacking is removed. I do know that to take the boat from the water, shot blast to remove blacking, have an engineer look at it again to determine the best way to procede and put it back in the water will cost around £2,000 You will only know if it needs overplating once that work just mentioned is done. It's difficult to give details about meeting to view because ebay would ban me from sending messages if they spotted it. That's why I've tried to be as open as I possibly can be in the ad and here to give people as much information as i can for them to make an informed decision. The boat will certainly need some work on the hull, how much or little I don't know. But that is reflected in the low buy it now price. I wouldn't be available to show people the boat until Saturday and judging by the way things are going i think it will be sold by then.
Thanks for the interest

I’m not an ebay expert but I thought it was always very advisable to pay only via the ebay system. The seller is asking for a bank transfer etc, which as I understand it has no come-back via ebay if things go wrong. He is suggesting that the boat cannot be viewed until Saturday and that it will probably be sold before then, enticing you to buy it before you view it. How do you know that he actually owns the boat and/or will transfer the ownership to you? If one was going to do a scam, surely this is how you would do it?

eBay cannot do anything to prevent a potential buyer viewing an item before they purchase. I have done this a couple of times on expensive/high value items such as cameras/vehicles.

What limited protection you do get only comes from using eBay/Paypal. Though there is from memory restrictions on single transaction amounts even on verified PayPal accounts.

eBay cannot do anything to prevent a potential buyer viewing an item before they purchase. I have done this a couple of times on expensive/high value items such as cameras/vehicles. they have recently clamped down on people messaging their phone numbers to buyers. To stop sales outside of ebay, hence you see people who post photos of their phone numbers. But I agree he is trying to entice rob to buy it quick without viewing, which Is never good. In my opinion last time it was out of the water and these pits where noticed, he got a quote that is high. He doesn't want to scare people off by quoting this and has decided just to slap some blacking on it and sell it.

Teabag with a seller unwilling to let viewing before auction end? Listen to Bruce! No need to spend 2k to see if it's a potential leaky sieve. If you don't have one they are cheap as chips here. www.toolstation.com/shop/p28521?table=noBring some chewing gum though...

Rob why don't you post what your looking for and how much you want to spend and see what the collective comes up with. We found some good boats for another idiot, but he hasn't sold his house yet.

Well I don’t think so, anyway!
