The 44 ft one dont look like it's worth the money to me to be honest. The 70ft one is a sealed bid auction, would never go for that type of deal, I viewed a 70ft one not long ago in a lot better condition that he wanted 10k for, I offered him 5k and he was happy with that but would not wait for my house sale to go through, boat sold the next day....It was worth a lot more just didnt have the money at the time. Just the way it goes. Thanks for puting them up for me to look at.

Yeah but no but .......... actually I think it is overpriced ...... the fit out is 'orrible and you would have to gut and start from scratch ...... that means you are not that much less than a new sailaway

The cooker doesn't seem to have flame-failure devices as is, they could maybe be added, but if not it needs to be replaced, unlees that's not obligatory in the UK.
If the hull report is really good and the Kubota engine in good running order, then it may be worth having a look at.
When looking at the boat together with the owner, there could be a possiblity of negociation for a price drop, and it could be worth the money for a DIYer.
Peter.

The stern part of the cabin looks a bit like its wood. Front is steel. Do they give a date? Looks 1970s to me - the treadplate on the foredeck is a bit old fashioned. Lovely engine. Nice stern I don't like the bows myself. Probably built ~6mm base and sides (1/4") so if it is 70s then it could be thin. Some teddesley boats were built by Allen's of Oldbury (great hulls) but not this one as it has the wrong dollies and bow shape.
Eta just looked below the main text and it does say 1976. I've seen other boats with the wooden back cabin. Not saying this one is definitely wood but I think it might be.
£25k seems quite a lot probably based mainly on the lovely engine.

Let's hope that the engine is in good nick and doesn't need lots of money to make it run for many more years, they are tough engines, as long as the are maintained properly. I'm pretty sure that the superstructure is wood, you can see on a photo of the cabin the beams on the ceiling, and they do look very much to be made of wood. The boat has a certain something going for it, and if the wood has been looked after, it could still be good for many years. If it needs to be replaced, then the boat is too expensive, unless the price comes down (quite a lot) and the buyer can do the work that's needed him/her self. Peter.

I think the front part of the cabin is steel because the front doors have welded-on hinges. Side doors look the same. Just the boatman's cabin part which seems to be wood.

I think your right about the back cabin being wood I think and Peter your right about the engine. So it could be a basket case. But it's got the potential to be a lovely little boat. But it doesn't look like rob is bothered anymore or were more bothered than he is.

42 years is a long time for a 1/4" thick narrowboat. Hopefully it's been well looked after below the waterline. It would need the chipping hammer test for me.
Rest of it's there or there about, same as MM I'm not massively taken with the bow, I never think narrowboats all that pretty anyway, this one is on the back foot already.
Price premium is likely in the engine as others have pointed out.
