Hey mate, good to hear you're staying in the village, and so close to the marina too...π That must be a load off, and the boat sold as well. Just got to get Chris as well as possible and life's once more a lot rosier, and being so close to the marina, that's surely a perfect excuse to have a small weekend boat.?..π

Chris is back in Ozzy, I had to call the Paramedics tonight st 8'45pm she was slipping in and out of consciousness and had lost her vision ( such as it is) I checked her O2 saturation and found it was only 50% and her blood pressure was all but non existent. I gave some oxygen and dialed 999 the Paras were brilliant working within the confines of a boat. She had a total of 1 1/2 litres of Saline and at the Ozzy she had a litre of Pottasium solution because she was resΔΊy deficient. 3 times she had spoken to our Doc who did bloods which showed the lack Pottasium but did nothing. It was all due to the massive dosage of diuretics they put her on for her lymphoedema despite Chris saying she had lost 22kg of fluid and was now feeling spaced out and nausious all the time. So a failure to adjust her meds meant another trip in an ambulance and a stay in hospital just because the Doc couldn't be arsed. I'm really so mad that they put her through this and it was totally avoidable. And what a waste of a crew of paramedics plus all the staff at A&E. GΕrrr Phil

GΕrrr Phil Dear Phil, I'm really very sorry to hear about this new missery, it's often hard(if not impossible) to trust and rely on doctors. And as you know the side-effects of medication is sometimes almost as bad (or worse) as the reason for which one takes the stuff to start with.
I must have looked over this topic for 1 week, and while reading the previous messages, I was going to write how happy I was for both of you about the development of your story, with the boat sold, and a nice bungalow waiting only a short distance from the marina.
Of course I'm still happy about that, but I'm worried again about Chris, hope they'll find a more effective way of looking after her health, so that you can both enjoy your new lives ashore for as long as possible.
All the very best to both of you,
Peter.

An official complaint about the doctor, for starters - should he/she be practicing at this very minute if they are incompetent?
Low potassium has a fancy term 'Hypokalemia' (which... err.. means 'low' and 'potassium').
Muscles need potassium to contract.
The heart muscle needs potassium to beat properly and regulate blood pressure.
The kidney is the main organ that controls the balance of potassium by removing excess potassium into the urine.
When potassium levels are low (hypokalemia), you can become weak as cellular processes are impaired.
The normal potassium level is 3.5-5.0 mEq/L (mEq/L stand for milliequivalents per liter of blood and this is a unit measure used to evaluate the level). Low potassium is defined as a potassium level below 3.5 mEq/L.
Almost one out of five people hospitalized in the United States has a low potassium level.

Hi Ross, we gleaned a lot at the Ozzy last night, Chris had a count of only 1.7 pretty low and her blood pressure when I checked just prior to making the call was only 60 over 40, must admit it scared the crap out of me, that coupled with very low oxygen sats(50%) and loss of vision made me think that losing her was a very real possibility. Thankfully thanks to Cambridge's finest she lives to fight another day. I shall know she is OK when she slips into "Mrs Phil mode and threatens to banish me to the cratch (Loafer knows about this) Phil

'Banished to the cratch', eh? I like the sound of that. Like a naughty dog that has chewed the carpet.

Sorry to hear this sorry tale. Glad it has a satisfactory ending. In all seriousness though you should make a complaint about her GP, this incident had a good outcome, other cases might not and I doubt this carelessness and attitude was confined to one patient.

I had low potassium earlier this year due to Drs cocking it up with meds They even prescribe meds against the parents wishes. Take this young fella LINK ,who died after being given an anti psychotic drug, despite repeated warnings from his parents, that it had an adverse affect.
