When the first democratic state evolved (Ancient Greece) you had to be a man of substance before you could vote. And obviously, if this was still the case, then the vote would have been for "remain", but that's hardly rocket science is it? If I was Mr Cadbury and I could shift my chocolate factory to Poland and get a load of Jam Rolls working for me for £2 an hour then I'd be in favour of it too. I might not be so keen if I was one of the Keynsham workers who were slung out of work to make wealthy men even wealthier but then hey, they're only plebs so what do they matter? Most of these dreadful nit-infested working-class proles probably didn't even have University degrees.

The real error was 40 odd years ago when we should have been given a vote before we joined the EEC.
The reason we weren't is because the political elite "knew best" and screwed us ..... as per normal

I liken this to the 'British Spring'
All those shallow politicians were happy for other countries to have popular uprising where it suited their purposes, now they're not so happy when the same happens at home.
For too long the wealthy and elites have never had it so good, whereas people with lesser skilled jobs have seen wages stagnate, the cost of living go up, and greater competition for what jobs they can get.
Bit more lip service from the former to the latter may have helped avoid this mess.

But this is more like a fall back than a spring forward.

As yet I have to meet anyone who has regretted voting out, for me it was easy I know the EU is going to fall apart anyway, and in doing so it will destroy the member states still in it. Far better to have some distance between us and that sinking ship that is the EU

The smug multimillionaires have their backs covered - they won't suffer. They will move their businesses from the UK - the process has already started. It will be the poor who will suffer from this, both here and in the rest of Europe.

These poor, don't suppose you're talking about the same poor that are suffering from a £1.6 trillion debt and all that austerity that 'smart' economic minds made possible. Don't suppose you're talking about those poor old rail companies receiving alms from the state. One of which received as much in one year as all the farmers in Wales received as subsidy in one year from the EU. Economic bollocks is what we were supposed to have stayed in the EU for. That's why we aren't.

Maybe the UK government will have to keep its eye on the UK ball and its population now. All businesses like reliable employees, the UK needs reliable businesses that don't act like tarts. Develop more home-grown business for a start.

I've always thought the best thing for people like us would be a world-wide re-run of the French Revolution.
