Following last year's weather disrupted schedule we have a fairly easy run of things weather wise, yet the officials are having a tough time in practice/qualifying. First up was a nugget on the course, end result of that? 4 weeks sewing mail bags in Douglas clink. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-isle-of-man-44290962Yesterday's practice saw the sad loss of Dan Kneen www.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/44311030And then this entirely avoidable incident www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-isle-of-man-44314204Wrong Direction in any motorsport discipline is a big no no, hope the rider pulls through. Thoughts go to the safety car crew, goodness knows how they must be feeling. Fingers crossed the weather stays fine and things settle down a bit.

The way the report on the second accident read it seems like it wasn't against protocol to travel in the opposite direction as the organisers have said new protocols are now in place. Seems bizarre to me, when I short circuit raced, if a race was red flagged everyone slowed right down ready to stop, but continued round in the direction of travel following directions from marshals. Hope the guy pulls through ok, and thoughts also go out to the course car crew.

Terrible accidents, and if there are more fools like this Ford guy, there could be even more, without the presence of brainless idiots like this guy, it's already plenty dangerous enough.
I'm very sorry to read that Dan Kneen lost his young life there, he was certainly a racer with lots of potential, my thoughts are with his family and friends.
With some luck and time Steve Mercer will recuperate I hope.
Racing, and motor-racing even more has been and will always be a dangerous sport, it's always exiting to watch and very exiting to participate, very much like a drug that the riders are addicted to.
Because of the very much improved protective clothing, riders stand a better chance to survive when they fall off their bikes, and there's space to glide and roll, but when there are trees, or other solid obstacles chances are not as good.
It's absolutely terrible to lose your life, but if you have a choice of losing it while busy doing something you do enjoy so much, and where you've been living for, then it's not so hard for you, but VERY hard for the ones that are left behind.
Peter.

It seems inconceivable that after 111 years racing that the practice of running WD was permitted and hadn't resulted in an incident like this before now. I can see the sense of not having a full course red over 37.75 miles, after all an accident prior to Ramsey hairpin has no effect on the mountain and like wise an off on the mountain effecting the tun from Douglas to Ballacraine, sector full reds would seem a much more sensible idea than a full course lock down. The TT Marshalls are normally top notch from what I am told. Mercer is pretty secondhand by all accounts.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/motorsport/44384171A fag paper under a 122 mph standing start lap! well done Michael Rutter. An incredible pace of advancement with the TT Zero bikes in a very short time frame. 8 years ago this was the winning time and speed : - 96.820 mph in 23 minuets 22.89 secs compared to this years 121.824 mph in 18 minuets 34.956 secs. Now if only they could race them for more than one lap...
