I reckon all the closures are a way of preparing people for brexit. First the pound will go low then the banks will collapse.

we're really fecked off with the now...
Here we are - Bingley in good time, only to be told max of 4 lockings down allowed per day and we're apparently 7th in the queue... ffs. 1) WHY not put that in the "notice"and 2) why not send someone back up to Lock 30 (padlocked shut) and instead of letting the water in there go DOWN the OVERFLOW into the river, open a gate paddle and send some down this way where it's needed.
To add insult to injury, We have a birthday booking next weekend to Leeds that we won't be able to honour and will lose even more money now cause Lock 1 is closing off and there's no way on Earth we'd be able to get into Clarence dock anyway.
Disgruntled of NB Ellis

Disgruntled of NB Ellis "like" would be wrong. Sympathies! Shire cruisers, from what I've been told, have some form of lost business insurance. Might be worth a look for next year.

Ask for money back, Ellis. There's water leaking everywhere, plenty of it. The only thing that isn't leaking is boaters' licence money from CRT's coffers.

I know I will sell regardless of whether I find anywhere. My present thought is to rent flat at Marina and take my time deciding what i want....meanwhile many viewings have been booked for 'suitable houses' as decreed by family...Daughter told me theres a nice 'home' nearby for when I cannot manage..FFS I'm only 61..bit young for that sort of discussion...

I know it was a long journey but the result is perfectly fine. The amount of people we tell about you and your tree climbing exploits you'd not believe!... I so wish we had a photo! Just on Saturday we were in the woods round skipton castle doing a treasure hunt with Andy's nephews and you came up. As for the "business" (as you all know we're not treating this as a business but a way of life anyway) NEXT year we've got 4 'fresh' bookings already and 2 we've had to move from this October into April - HOPEFULLY by then the water situation AND Marple lock will be resolved and we can honor them

Patty, why not rent the marina flat, then go off travelling and spend EVERYTHING My Mum and Dad only left me debts, but my love and respect for them is in no way diminished. What Jane and I have we earned. Rog

Well I've just booked into Liverpool docks for October 13 - 20 with CRT so they must be expecting Melling breach to be fully fixed👍 Latest from the Canal and River Trust about the repairs to the breach near Melling on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal: CRT has completed the new culvert and rebuilt the towpath wash wall. They are now completing masonry and reinstatement works to the offside embankment, undertaking piling works and installation of lining and a new clay bed. Following these works, testing will be taking place to check for any leakages. CRT plans to open the canal to navigation at 11 am on Friday 24th August 2018
