I've just found this site - have owned H/boats at Pin Mill for years - now looking to scrap my old wrecks and replace with something sound! I fear another Dutchman is coming over........................... anyway good forum and enjoying the reading,

No Houseboats, in order of sinking a 1930's Gentlemans motor yacht, a converted chelmer navigation barge and [just about afloat] Thames lighter. A neighbour has a converted h/keel

I see what you mean. Funnily enough I was on a houseboat (3 storey static steel box) yesterday in Paris. I found it very disturbing compared to the cruising motor boats I have always lived on (narrow boats and inland barges)
If I had a big enough mooring my perfect boat would be a Humber barge with a 4L2 Gardner in there kept in cruising order. Even not moving much its nice to have a boat set up and ready to go if there is a sudden Apocalypse or something.
