My granddaughter and her dad have been up to the Isle of Bute this week. Pump out, cassette or in your pants? It would be nice to give it a blast past the constant moorers on the K&A.

I think your avatar pic is nicer, Winn.
Greengrass/Bill Maynard married Donald Campbell's widow.

I think your avatar pic is nicer, Winn. Greengrass/Bill Maynard married Donald Campbell's widow. What an interesting but useless fact. Might win a pint in a pub quiz one day. I once won one with "Walloon".

That's a rather noisy bowthruster!

Have you ever had your balls in a mangle? When some silly bugger turns the handle? Your balls go crack and your dick shoots back. Have you ever had your balls in a mangle? See, I can disrupt my own threads too!

My sympathies are very much with The Bluebird Project who have put so much effort into the rebuild. All it needs is for the museum to sign a contract allowing K7 to be run a certain number of times a year. K7 is a working boat not a static display. I hate to say it but what may well happen is that the museum get a bunch of wreckage back and BP keep their bits and build a working replica.

I think it is a hydroplane.
It was watching the film about that which put me off using my own hydroplane when I was a teenager.
I had visions of it going up and over.
I suppose my little 8ft plywood with a nackered 20hp Chrysler on it would not have made such a dramatic splash to be fair.

So does a hydroplane require a hydrofoil, or is the planing achieved solely through the shape of the hull and the speed of the boat?

Pretty sure it doesn't have a foil no.
Hydroplanes have two sponsons one on each side with a guide plate so once it's almost all out of the water the plates keep it in a straight line.
A hydrofoil is a wing shape item which is held away from the hull.
Different thing. I'm sure bluebird is a hydroplane without any foils.
ETA I don't think you would ever get that sort of speed from a hydrofoil because of the drag while the foil is operating under the water. If it lifted out of the water the boat would fly thereby becoming an aircraft.
