Probably just a typo in the article then.
Some other fast boats:

Amazing that the 1978 world record by Ken Warby in 'Spirit of Australia', reaching 317 Mph still stands.

written by a 'journalist', a profession that believes it can write and publish any old bollocks, resulting in misinformation and fake news all over the place. yesterday Ann Diamond on Sky News said that 'billions of hectares have been burned in Australia'. 2 billion hectares is 20 million sq.km. - 3 times as big as the whole continent. DUHH !!

I think it is a hydroplane. It was watching the film about that which put me off using my own hydroplane when I was a teenager. I had visions of it going up and over. I suppose my little 8ft plywood with a nackered 20hp Chrysler on it would not have made such a dramatic splash to be fair. You could have taken your Teddy as a good luck charm. Oh, hang on tho....

Quite a clever publicity stunt to pretend someone was in the boat when in fact it was a remote control unmanned vessel.
That's why they couldn't find the body. Because there wasn't one..

I'm aware of that. I know the story.
What I am getting at is that it was a setup. There was nobody in the boat at the time of the accident.
Loads of publicity.
The Campbell bloke then lived a normal comfortable life out of the public eye then when he died at th age of 80 they put his body into the lake and Voila! Found the body ! More publicity more money everyone happy.
This is what I was told by Evangeline my MI6 bit.

Sometimes you are very close to the truth! honestly I have thought the same at times when something/one is found years after the event
