I didn't realise you and mm witnessed the incident. Obviously I can't argue with you that neither boat made any contact, or in anyway caused the boat to sink, because I'm only basing my views on the various accounts I've read so far. Rog not quite sure I get that Rog, apart from one comment I've only passed on what I have seen.

To clarify I was not personally present I am just going on what my MI5 colleagues told me based on what they picked up with their new pigeon drones which have been active in that area. I am currently in a "hush hush" location learning to use drones, is there a posibility of a opening for me (employment wiseπ) Only asking as the missus has indicated that she would like us to move here - bit or a suprise as everyone else seems to want to ecape from hereπ€

Can't promise anything but I'll do my level vest.

The boat hadn't sunk until the 'interaction' with the hire boats, so a little unfair to blame the boater. I understand the two boats were filmed in their erratic behaviour. 1. Where can we see this video? 2. How did the boat sink? This is all very unclear to me at the moment. What we have is: "a boat sank after being involved β with other craft β in an incident with a hired boat." "George, whose boat is just around the corner theyβd come round, was following them; their wake had thrown his boat around particularly badly" "But the next morning also revealed that Georgeβs boat had been sufficiently damaged by the thumping it had received, to sink overnight. Heβd been woken at 4:30 to find the cabin awash. By daylight, it was sitting firmly on the bottom of the canal." My question is - what 'thumping' ? Against the 'cill'? How was George 'following them' - in his boat, or just with his eyes? If against the cill, don't you think a narrowboat can withstand a bit of bumping about below the water? Unless the steel is particularly thin...... When was George's boat's last hull survey, and what did the examiner say? Why doesn't George just put in a claim to his insurance company?

In the report I read (link from bfg) the video was being retained for use at court if necessary. A phone containing further footage was dropped in the canal, recovered and they hope footage will be able to be used.
There has been no specific details of how/why the boat sank, which is the reason I was surprised mm and stabby were so dismissive.

Too silly. Unless the hire boat collided with the vessel it did not cause it to sink. Its not possible unless the vessel was ready to sink anyway. Agree with this. My mooring is on the busiest part of the network, and speeding hire (and private) boaters come past me all day, every day. From reading the account it seems far more likely that the owner of a basket case of a boat has found a peg on which to hang the coat and is looking for the standard "compo". If you look at the boat in the photo, it does look 'uncared for' and rusty. Could those actively engaged in putting up Facebook comments stick up his last hull survey report please? This will be an interesting case if it goes to Court. If you drive past another boat and it sinks, are you responsible?

In the Dimwit Mail now: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6205753/Drunken-stag-party-smash-hired-barge-houseboat-sinking-bottom-canal.htmlIs his name really George 'Kanda' - as in K&A ??!!! "Mr Kanda's houseboat appears to be in an appalling state of decay. It's a wonder it was afloat to be hit! I wonder if it would have withstood the impact if it was well maintained?" "That's not the point though, is it? It's about the stupid idiots who crashed their hired boat into Mr. Kanda's, causing huge damage and thereby destroying an old age pensioners home." - only, they didn't crash it into his boat.

Nothing in the National Bargees and Travellers Association's "News": www.bargee-traveller.org.uk/news/So they don't seem to care much about George. What a heartless bunch.

"Not so Tranquil Rose β another speeder, this time a hotel boat" Yeah - just look at that wake, washing away the edges of the canal. Report Hotel Boat Holidays to CRT at once! Get these irresponsible cretins off The Cut!

the whole thing was staged by ting dene so that when they take over the canals from a failed CRT they will have more ammunition to do away with the itinerants.
The question is what would the reasonable man want for "his" canals? Holidays and pleasure or slums.

Are there any photos of the miscreants? Who are they? Are their employers aware of their behaviour? Did the Police take their names and addresses?
Why are there so few details about it all? For instance, what did the hire company ABC say?
