Well, as of 2nd December, we will no longer have a home mooring... I'd miss understood the terms of our business licence and on checking, find as a skippered hotel boat we CAN be ccrs.
And proper ones at that - BY proper I don't mean the ones that bridge hop... I mean wander around the system (as best the winter stoppages will let us) until we get back to our Cruising Schedule again in April.
Rather pleased to have a fair few bookings already in the diary for next year. We'll never be rich but we ARE having the adventure we always wanted.
Just thought I'd share with you good/not so good folk ;-)

I didn't realise you ran one of those hotel boat things. As an ex. day boat owner, I wish you all the best!

That sounds like a sensible move if you don't need a mooring for the actual business to operate. It seems slightly ridiculous to pay for a mooring if you can meet the cc requirements which are not very onerous currently. Good luck with it

I was about to offer my congratulations for joining the Caravan and Camping club...however... just don't go having so many showers (or instructing your guests to) so as to cause another drought next year.

I was about to offer a cheque for a 2-week cruise with you, how does mid-January sound?

At the risk of interupting foxy's hilarious shafts of wit, congratulations!
Are you getting rid of the car, or jumping it round, if you don't mind me being nosy.

Rog In the late 90s I cruised from the Thames to Ellesmere port and Llangollen with the car. I cycled back to collect it. I always tried not to move it at weekends because parking by bridges was taken up by anglers. I did it for a few years. Vehicle (Land rover 90) was reported to police once for being involved in badger baiting and another time for being abandoned. And someone shagged the ignition key barrel while failing to break the steering lock. It was rather a nice Landy so only one theft attempt was probably quite lucky considering some of the dodgy places it got parked !!

When we got the train back from Parbold in the summer to collect it (in case my dad didn't make it) it became a total pain to get back. It'll be easier just not to have one. Enterprise do a car club, where you can pay a monthly membership fee and install an "app" on your phone - which when booked, will allow you to open one of their cars, retrieve keys from the glove box to hire it as and when.... I read that somewhere. To start with though, I think we'll just try it hardcore - IF we do HAVE to get hold of a car, we've still got paperwork for bills and stuff registered at the bungalow so proving residence won't be a problem to hire.

Don't think you'll have too many problems.
We tend to check out public transport costs (train and coach) before checking Enterprise, and then go with the cheapest/most convenient option.
You're right. Having a car to move about, very quickly becomes a real pain in my view.
Enjoy your freedom. Exciting times.
