What do you think to a fb group and twitter acc? Not as alternatives to the forum but as a recruiting method? If you do want this place to stand alone and grow and move away from everything with cwdf it might be worthwhile?

Hate social media Me too, gave up with farcebook 7 years ago. Twitter came to an end 18 months or so ago. More to life than those two, forums are on my terms, click on what i want to read, ignore the dross. face ache and twatter you just end up with the online version of verbal diarrhoea clogging your timeline up.

all well and good but we arent talking about using it as a place to chat more as a place to steer people with similar interests to this forum.

You can't have one without t'other Don't let me piss on your parade though, just cos it's not for me doesn't mean it's a crap idea. Far from it, I'm rapidly being left behind by the modern world!

If you are in to it then perhaps you could go to some of the canal related groups and advertise thunderboat there. e.g. canaldwellersrus. The missus tells me that their a very raucous bunch.

Ive added a link once to London Boaters but it probably got lost in the rest of the posts. If Delta thinks its a goer I could set a group up although Its new territory for me

Doesn't CWDF have a Facebook page or site or whatever it is called there? If so, that would be the place to promote Thunderboat.

I'm not into facebook & I am already here, so while I agree it could be a good idea to attract new members, it obviously wont (& doesn't need to) work for me. However the thought came to me while reading the above posts. Is it possibly a way for the recently ex-communicated CWDF members to "stick it" to the mods one last time by posting on the CWDF facebook site that they have been expunged and can now be found on Thunderboat? Or is that being as childish and they are, & they are able to control what is posted on the CWDF face book site as well?

Actually setting up recruiting accounts sounds like a good idea, can't do any harm. I don't do FB or Twitter but I know I'm in the minority And I love the idea of posting on CWDFs page. Phil
