I suppose it depends on your definition of interesting. There's definately a push from the establishment for brexit not to happen. Almost like its a plot between Merkle and may. Let's offer the worst possible deal, then push for a second referendum. Anyway the quicker a grass roots movement take over the waterways the better. Unfortunately it probably won't happen until cart have sold everything of value and fucked the infrastructure up good and proper. Imagine the 5-6 million constant income form the marinas would be vital to grass roots body trying to keep the waterways navigable.

I suppose it would depend what the motive of this "grass roots" organisation was. Moving as infrequently as possible or moving as frequently as possible.
If the idea is to move as infrequently as possible then maintenance of infrastructure would be less of a priority. In fact if your aim is to remain in one location for as long as possible it is distinctly advantageous for locks to be non functioning and ashed up to reduce leakage.
On the other hand there are people who want to move as frequently as possible.
Its tricky to get these groups to agree with each other because their aims are completely different.

We have a large group who use boats as primary residential dwelling units (yes we do exist ) and would like to move as infrequently as required by law. Then we have people who don't use the boats as dwelling units but want to save money. We also have a large group who use boats when its nice for boating (yes we do exist ) Try to think up an organisation that would bring them all together. I'd love to be involved in such an organisation but something tells me the aims are too different. I suppose if it gets to the stage where the system is really fucked (no we are not at that stage yet) then the "fighting against the common enemy" principle might kick in. Hopefully. Why do you think I am wrong about that ?

Awfully sorry about that. I thought thread drift was allowed in here.
Not in the mood to start any new threads atm.
