Talking to boatets locally. 3 out of 4 local elsans are closed at the moment and have been for about two weeks. Is this because of people filling the els an disposal points with compost ? No apparently it's the flushable wipes that cause the problems. Why would you put compost in the elsan?

Once you get bored of storing it on the boat you look for alternative solutions.
CRT did a thing about this recently. Some sort of questionnaire which appeared to be asking composting toilet users where they dispose of the waste.

So what do you reckon?
People chucking composting toilet waste in elsan disposal points ?
Or is it just the flushable wipes.
I think the wipe thing is related to the design of the disposal point. If it is just straight into a tank by gravity then I don't believe it is a problem (it might be) because tanker mounted the pump which then evacuates that tank is going to be able to 'deal with some bad shit'.
Then there are the indirect systems.
I have never really looked into the shit disposal systems its quite an interesting topic. Maybe some of them communicate directly with the main sewer.
The pump out machine on the residential mooring one of my boats currently occupies has two pumps. A big diaphragm pump to remove material from the boats (pump out) and a small intermediate holding tank with a float switch actuated submersible sludge pump for removal of material to the municipal sewer which is above the level of the mooring pontoon.

Carts current guide limes for disposal of composting, is to bag it and put it in the normal waste bins. So why wouldd anyone want to put t in an elsan?

I was told (but don’t know if it’s true) that you can chuck dog poo bags in the general waste bins?! If it’s good enough for dogs, then why not humans?

CRT are suggesting people shit into bags and put that in bins?
I would be surprised if that were the case.
It would be worth looking into but I suspect that defecating directly into a CRT "facilities" bin would be frowned upon.
