Our Ecofan is making a slight noise. Is there any reason why I can't drip a drop of oil down onto the axle/bearing? Would applying multi-purpose grease with a cotton bud be better than oil? It's gone quietly 4 years so far. Caframo, Made in Canada.

Ours at home has a little tick like that, after 10 years. Oil didn't make much difference. We just ignore it. It could be designed to tick, more ticks more heat spread around.

Got some grease onto the axle but still making that ticking sound. Can live with it. But it's a good job Caframo don't make aeroplane engines!

Eco fans do nothing anyway. But you never find them in the cut like your chimneys, Dunton Windlasses et al.

Now ours is spinning silently again. I'm guessing the heat from the stove has melted that 'general use grease' I applied, and it has gone into the mechanism and spread lubricatingly all over the place. Good job!
