Is there any possibility of changing the theme or providing alternatives??
I find the very dark background makes things difficult to read particularly on an iPad.
Thoughts??

Turn the brightness up on your iPad? In all seriousness it's fine on my devices. Mind you everything is a pain to read outdoors in the sunshine...and it's a bit hot reading inside a boat or caravan.

Well Google must have spent a lot of money researching this kind of stuff. In the end they came up with blue/black on a white background. Didn't we used to do that with a biro pen on paper once?
Simple is best.

I quite like the blue with white type, its restful on the eyes, if I go from here to cwdf I find the bright white spaces a bit jarring now. Its easier too to see the quotes being in the darker blue and avatars look more interesting also. Pehaps it might be easier to read if you alter the size of the text? Will give this a try. It's interesting that I visit five forums regularly and all of them are similar to CWDF, light background, dark text. This is the only one the other way around.

I agree with Martin, it is not easy to read especially when outside. Dark on white would be better for a boaty forum since, naturally, we are all out boating when we are posting!

I've added the option of a lighter theme. Go to your profile and click 'Edit Profile', you'll be taken to the Edit Profile & Settings page. On this page, click the 'Settings' tab and you will see the option for 'Forum Theme' as the third option listed on the page. Click on the drop-down menu provided an you'll be presented with the option to chose between 'default' and 'light' themes.

I'm happy with the schematics and decor. And tomsk's repetitive 'twat' is the wallpaper background.

Much better now, especially on a tablet in the dark.
