Oh the joys of leaving the bickering children behind and heading off up the cut! Curdworth locks despatched this morning. Although no sun, it’s not bad for January. We helped a very nice elderly Australian gentleman up some of the locks, He came to U.K. 3 months ago, bought a boat and has been cruising single handed since, no previous canal boating experience. There’s brave!

Not really. There aren't any funnel-web spiders in Birmingham.

3/10, an improvement, at least you are trying to be creative. Nice of you to keep a picture of me. Drawn by my grandson aged about 11,a few years back. Would you like a signed copy? Do you have it framed on the wall above the mantelpiece or on the back of the door as a dartboard. We never see pics of you. I wonder why?

I think we should rein in this hatred towards those who hold opposing views to our own.
Jim is not an evil person with malice in his heart, like the vast majority of Remainers he is just easily manipulated by the controlling class. History has always been thus. Russians turned out in their hundreds of thousands to wave flags and shout their support for Stalin.
Germans did the same for their leader during their previous, unsuccessful European take-over attempt. Third time lucky, eh Angela!
I'm quite sure Jim genuinely believes that withdrawing from the eu will lead to the Great Famine of 2019, the Cholera epidemic of 2020, 70 mile queues of trucks on the approach to Dover, the internet not working etc etc etc, but the point is this eagerness to fall for Project Fear is born more of parochial feeble-mindedness and an unwavering desire to obey his masters- an inherited Yorkshire trait- than any innate sense of wickedness.
Cut him some slack.

Cut him some slack. First para. Agreed. But your subsequent paras are thus non-sequiturs since you are demeaning his views. I actually voted leave, but only because I had an ulterior motive which was to dilute the proportion of Scottish people voting remain which at the time, seemed ammunition for Queen Nicola’s Scottish Empire. In reality the actual position is grey. Of course there are some advantages in leaving, not the least a tremendous desire to slap the tossers Tusk and Juncker’s faces. Very hard. Preferably with some extremely large and wet fish, whilst filming it for YouTube. But equally we have become complacent regarding the benefits of peace in Europe, and the fact that we face despotic rulers such as Trump and Putin (in that order) and that there is strength in numbers. So the right answer is something like deciding whether a person is a friend or not. Everyone has faults, it is just a matter of whether a person’s bad points outweigh their good points. Or not. In other words, the right answer is a matter of personal opinion and the relative weights of the factors as determined by individual priorities. The right answer is not an extreme desire to leave, nor an extreme desire to remain. For to hold such extreme views would make one ... an extremist. Just like IS, a provisional IRA person and their like. So anyone who chooses to denigrate someone else because their balance of opinion is a little different from their own, is a chip-shouldered sweary intolerant extremist werido. Which probably explains why there are so many on here.

No, just inserting a bit of reality into the hysterics of extremism.

At the end of the day...we voted leave What's the point of a vote if we don't abide by the results ? I've voted for parties in the past which have lost general elections.Did I then get into a frenzy about another vote ?The answer is obviously not.A vote is just that & not the best of 3,4,5,6 etc...

But I suppose the fact that you choose to pick up on that as opposed to the content of my post, means you have no cogent repost. Which I take as a victory.

This is what is wrong with referenda. Get the plebs to vote, then we (the politicians, paid to make decisions) get to slope shoulders to the great unwashed. It then becomes a matter of which side can present the best and most convincing misinformation. Something that was won by Leave, with the £354 million a week bus, etc. And even then, by the thinnest of margins. Hardly a bastion of democracy to be revered. I am not particularly in favour of repeating referenda until the right answer is forthcoming, but in this case, when we voted we had no real idea of the issues. Now, we have a much better idea.

I was doing that passive-aggressive thing which is pretty much a personal trait of mine where I start off with a statement which is benign and neutral, then gradually crank up the volume until I reach the third or forth sentence which is designed to totally humiliate and insult my opponent.
