Call me a thick twunt, but I often waste hours wondering why This forum was named Thunderboat? Is there any significance to anything in its name or just the first thing into Delta's head at the time?

From what delta said at the time( I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong) delta used to be a member of an unmoderated forum called thunderdome ( from mad max3) so when he needed a name for an unmoderated "boating forum" thunderboat came to mind.

It's not a bad name. Striking. And nautical. And full of people who wish to express their thunder, unrestrained - freedom from being 'brought to heel'.

Don't say that to socks!
Actually I'm curious about words she uses 'ty' and 'sry'.
Is it short for thank you and sorry ?

I initially wondered if it was a racing hydroplane enthusiast forum but I think kris' explanation is more probable.

Who cares? It's a fab forum where I feel really comfy.Let's be honest,we're a bunch of really diverse people who mostly get on in the online world. We all may or may not have got on in the real world prior to this, but I reckon we would now.We obviously would not share exactly the same opinions on 'stuff',but isn't that the same in life ?Plus,Thunderboat sounds a bit naughty,a bit 'Up yours'.I really like it here-Thanks Delta.😊

Years ago Delta started a thread in the virtual pub on CWF I was involved in the thread along with others, Rosie and Jim were hardened commandoes in this complex thread which was far out! and if I remember involved a Thunderboat, I could easily be mistaken and other theories are welcome until Delta puts us straight

It could still be an idea to have a 'get together' somewhere sometime. I'm looking for an excuse to wear my Harris tweed jacket and look smart and dashing.

I get where you're coming from Ross.Thunderboaters may have different ideals, but I reckon we'd look out/after each other. We really enjoyed meeting you in Dec'& without Thunderboat that wouldn't have happened.😊

I don't care why it's called Thunderboat, it's not full of people that know everything about everything yet still offers plenty of knowledge when it's needed, even to hire boaters like me, oh, and I can call folk a twat when I think they are being one.
