I think we can safely say that any work undertaken at Marple Locks will be a cheapo fudge. Take the money and run!

I take it you've just received the C&RT update too.
Not open until 24 May now.

There is a new stoppage notice. Not now open until 24th May. Sorry! Ladies avert your eyes... Fuckerty fuckerty fuckers.... we already HAD to move 3 sets of guests from October to April cause of last years incompetence..... and we need to pick a couple up in Marple to have a little trip into bugsworth basin on 12th April SO - we're going to have to ask the first lot to come maybe 2 weeks earlier (assuming we can get standedge booked in) and then go into mancs and round the long way. aarrrgggggghhhhh

You have our sympathy, intensely frustrating but utterly out of your control.
I'm sure you'll have a 'cunning plan'.
Rog
PS Sorry, I hadn't seen Nick's post on the previous page when I posted about the stoppage.

The real annoyance added to the actual delay, is that when you enquired how work was going they referred you to the stoppage list which shows opening date as 15 March.
Within 24 hours an alert is published delaying the opening for over two months.
Not impressive at all, for a single stoppage ... but as this is the follow up to last years botched efforts ... an humiliation for C&RT.

That had been the plan... NOW it's going to have to be this one - ASSUMING the stoppage at Preston Brook (T &Mersey) IS completed or at least un-stopped after 15th March like what it's supposed to be.... HMMF - I mean we like boating but not in a rush in March/Early Appril....

I've just read Seadog's comments on CWDF.
What a twat!
I very nearly logged on to tell him so ... but I'm trained to resist the pompous arses these days.

Rog I resisted too... although i didn't take offence... I'm not lying... it's impossible to offend me - "ginger training" and all that lol. I also resisted replying that WHEN I submitted the business licence application we DID have to tell them our planned routes - and they responded saying something along the lines of "be mindful as your routes include rivers you may experience delays due to flooding"... Joking a side, I'm not slagging crt at all - but Kier and the heritage lot really don't give a damn.

If you two can survive your first two years working as a business (and as a couple) with all the obstacles, frustrations, annoyances, and grief that you've endured thus far, I'm guessing you'll be able to deal with anything. Well ... maybe not a fourteen day booking from stabby ... but everything else Rog

So then - the booked guests aren't able to come 2 weeks earlier due to prior commitments.... they ARE happy however too take cruise 13 - which is from the top of the Rochdale in to Mancs and then up the Huddersfield narrow as far as Shawhall - in August. Which is good cause it means financially whilst we can't sell THAT cruise now, we might be able to cobble something together from the end of March once we're through Standedge to mitigate future lost income.
That said, I think a fortnights "hard" boating on our own will be good for my brain at the moment and perhaps help me move forward from the overwhelming need to burst into tears over trivial things.

"they may well (quite understandably) want their money back" - perhaps Quaysider should be asking CRT for a portion of their licence/business licence fees back?
