I get sick pay for the first day onwards. First sick pay day in over 5 years was 3 weeks ago when I was summoned to horse-piddle for gastroscopy.

Look into tumeric tablets for a natural pain killer remedy, but ideally you need to speak to a health practitioner first as there are a few exceptions for use, think if you are anemic or have a high blood pressure, or something like, then its not suitable. You also need to make sure you get the right strength and dose. May be worth a go. T.

You also need to make sure you get the right strength and dose. May be worth a go. T. Rabeprazol 20mg was prescribed for me first, one tablet first thing in morning for a month. Stop and see how things are, then take the next months's supply. I have 17 tablets left, and I think the prescription goes up to 4 times 2 months' worth, ie. 8 months in all, before I need another prescription from a doctor. In Finland prescriptions get done electronically - from doctor straight to the pharmacy system, and onto your on-line 'own database' system (where you can look up all your medical stuff if you want to). I was taken aback - after the first tablet, that was it, no more 'heartburn' or cricopharyngeal spasms. I took the tablets for 4 weeks, then stopped for about 4 weeks - and I have been dismayed to find the symptoms have come back gradually. It's not 'heartburn' as you may think, acid reflux and burning sensation - but more of a feeling of 'cramp' in my throat - apparently caused by inflammation of a (probably congenital) hiatus hernia. So, back to the tablets for a month, and off them, and we'll see again what the situation is. I've read that a lot of people just continue taking these tablets forever (well, until they die, that is). My biopsy results were all clear - no cancer or helicobacteria, which are one cause of gastric ulcers and acid reflux. Bit of a mystery why my hiatus hernia should be inflamed. I suspect drinking single malt whiskies gets rid of any nasty helical bacteria As I'm here, I will also mention I started taking statins (Rosuvastatin) about 5 months ago, one tablet before bed in the evenings - and on my next blood test 4 months later, I was surprised to see that my overall cholesterol and 'bad cholesterol' had been reduced by about a third - I mean, that's a lot! Unclogging the arteries! Next blood test around September, we'll see then how the land lies.

Ross I suspect drinking single malt whisky or whiskey could well have inflamed your stomach lining particularly if your chosen diet has lot of spices.

Diet does not have a lot of spices, and I don't drink a bottle a day. It's not the stomach lining that's inflamed but the hiatus/hiatal hernia. I shall read about it on t'Internet when I get round to it.
