I am a little weird, I accept, but I prefer steam engines to modern electric trains, I like the quirkiness of narrow boats compared with the more comfortable wide beams, and I like the background noise of a diesel when I'm cruising. I wonder if, when electric drive is all the rage, they'll have artificial engine noise as an option, like they have artificial shutter sounds on digital cameras? Rog Thatβd be awesome. Can just imagine flying along the cut with the soundtrack of an old 70s Kawasaki 4. I bet there would be many interesting choices for engine sounds.

Nice but not erm... enough howl for me. A bit agricultural.

Gazza said dogless is right - a diesel can sound nice. mouse must be half mutton thanks to these What, ehh, pardon! Had he warmed it properly and put it on the throttle stop, it would have made a glorious noise. They sound terrific under load. CIE buses in Ireland used to use the in line 6 version.

Bugger the Bollinger π - just listen to that lump of Yankee iron π€π I think the best 2 stroke diesel sound is this one - Jump to 1:20 for best bit.... Very unusual engine the Deltic, they were originally used on boats?
