As you can see they aren't boat engines, although the first one could have been fitted just as well in a boat. It's possible that there is a boat somewhere that is/was driven by one, but I've never heard of it. Because I thought they were worth having a look at, I posted them. and the other one Peter.

Well worth watching unfortunately I've not got a good signal where I am at the moment so they will have to wait.

The Gypsy Major engine in the Chipmunks we flew at Roborough in '67 had a cartridge starter.

Here's a few static engines. They did my eyes and ears good Jim, I like these old engines. One of them the flat Deutz engine is the same engine as the one I had on one of my barges to drive the anchor-winch, old but simple and very reliable. Peter.

Otherwise I'll stick with the 20hp egg whisk. The imitation (almost better than the real ones) would fit, but would cost a lot more to keep in running order . Peter.

Very special starting procedures of knackered Lister Petter TS3
Turn Key, Find battery knackered.
Swap battery.
Turn key, Click
Wallop starter with a gert big hammer.
Turn key, nothing much doing.
Turn key with the decompressors over, fling decompressors to run, nothing.
Stop, go get the blowlamp.
Dismantle air filter, fire up blowlamp, stick it in air filter housing, turn key with decompressors over, fling decompressors to run, nothing.
Check lift pump, broken lever, loosen filter head inlet pipe, check fuel flow. Flow ok, tighten up union.
Bleed injectors turning over engine decompressed.
Stick blowlamp back in air filter, turn key over with engine decompressed, fling decompressors to run, hang on to key until engine finally catches.
Pin throttle.
Refit air filter element, drop wing nut - wing nut lands between silencer and chassis. Swear - alot.
Get two long screwdrivers and use like chopsticks to retrieve wing nut from now hot exhaust.
Reassemble air filter, being careful not to drop wing nut again.
Move dumper to a more suitable location for further surgery.
Shut down.
Realise my ears are ringing like mad from being in such close proximity to Dursley's finest iron - dropping the fucking wing nut did not help one bit 🤬🤦♂️ was not sure it would cooperate and start easily again so everything was done at full din 🙈🧐
