"It has been estimated that over the past 30 years, Africa has received over 960 billion pounds in Aid money from Global sources Of that 960, approximately 20% has been given to various water projects. Year upon year, billions more are poured in, and still organizations like Water Aid want more. Each appeal is accompanied by some raggy arsed emaciated fly licked coon trekking 30 miles with a bucket. Why? With all this free inward investment, Africa should be the global utopia, a paradise upon earth, with crystal clear and clean water, amazing medical technology, food a plenty, hygiene and lack of disease and so on. Africa remains the universal shithole. So where in fuck is the money going?" .................... oh, by the way, the totally unnecessary use of the word 'coon' singles you out for what you really are. Not heard that word for many a year... Thankfully

.................... oh, by the way, the totally unnecessary use of the word 'coon' singles you out for what you really are. Not heard that word for many a year... Thankfully This is the most disturbing part of current internet culture – the moral grandstanding, hyper offence taking, the pearl clutching, attempts to assert one’s moral superiority over someone else who’s been deemed a wrong thinker. The people who engage in these speech policing activities are desperate to signal their moral virtue, and the way they do this is by identifying someone as being racist or bigoted and denouncing them publicly so as to make themselves seem superior. They feel especially validated when they have the backing of their peers and when they get to speak on behalf of a minority group, even going so far as to be offended for that minority group. By claiming someone else is an unclean heretic they make themselves seem clean by comparison. It’s such as odious tactic especially when there’s literally zero effort required and no social cost in doing so.

You chose to quote someone that used the word coon in a derogatory way to support your thoughts - I judge you just the same for it as I would in real life.

That was a quote, and I thought it best left unchanged. Not a word I approve of, yes, I should have changed it to 'twat' or something. dear focks, if you don't provide bibliography when you post a statement then it will be assumed by the ordinary man that it is your own words. whether you provide bibliography or not, it will be assumed that (unless you clearly state that you take issue with such a statement) you agree with everything in that statement. thus the perils of randomly quoting stuff, much of which is crap.

Yeah but...freedom of speech etc.. I generally only read shortish posts. I’ve come to the conclusion that if one can’t make one’s point in a few sentences, then they are usually bullshitting. The only exception to this is the manual to land on the moon. That never happened, so I rest my case.

I don't read all the cut n paste... I prefer to read peoples own thoughts..its possible to paraphrase cut n paste and reduce the volume of multiple words on a page but somehow this doesn't happen.... so in actual fact if there is no reference to whose words they are I think it could quite possible be seen as plagiarism

The most disturbing part of current internet culture is that it facilitates people being arseholes without fear of immediate direct reprisal. This 'virtue signalling' you and others accuse people of is no more that just an invented phrase that retrospectively stands in for the missing 'I'm not racist but ...' at the beginning of sentences. Taking people to task when they are wrong is a fundamental principle of a decent society which will not be undermined by passing social media buzz words. People who have met you say you're a decent chap face-to-face .. which to me proves you to be the archetypal keyboard warrior if you're only this much of a twat on line.

I'm the same twat in real life. But, yes, I consider myself reasonably decent, too. I do my work every day without complaints coming in, and I pay my taxes honestly. The people I upset most with my comments and attitude are generally those who preach but don't themselves do what they preach; the two-faced hypocrites brigade. And often ones 'on the take'.

Is that a dig at me? No. I had lots of other people in mind, such as church goers who turn up in their new Volvo and wring their hands in fake sorrow at the starving in the world, the type who say "It's terrible, isn't it?" but wouldn't house a homeless person in their own home, nor give a lift to a hitch hiker. I have you down as 'alright' - but still you can be a (post cut short as bus won't drive itself!)... Well then...
Might I suggest that you might have been too quick to look for personal offense somewhat earlier in this thread.
And yes I know I'm an irritating twat at times but at least I love me for being so!

I personally have no problems with irritating twats ..... I do my best to be one on some occasions ...... people disagreeing with you often make you rethink your arguments ....not necessarily changing your mind ..... but at least think about things more carefully

Is that a dig at me? I did find this ironic when earlier today Donkey had said: "It had fuck all to do with you until you made it about you." Irony seems lost on you...
