"Am I right in thinking that this is a group of people who held opposing political views last week who have now become friends to derail a process voted for by the public? Which makes me then think should they not have to re stand for local election as their appointments seem to have been a false flag operation." Is the woman at the front with her mouth open holding her hands up to signal βinsert knob hereβ?

Independent and Party are opposites.
The Conservative ladies explained to Kirsty McCall that they are not a party, they have no manifesto. The only thing they have in common is a dissatisfaction with the leadership and culture of their previous parties.
The constituency can require a by-election if more than 10% of the voters petition for the same.

They didn't hold opposing political views, just wore different coloured ties and sung a different song at the end of their conferences.

Does anyone think that the week they all chose to slip out of the main parties and become independent, is a bit fishy. I mean its not like the entire nation were not watching other developments is it.

Seems to me that they wish to re create centre ground politics. Quite why they'd want to do that, given the mess created by centre ground parties is unclear, but there's nowt stranger than folk. I guess that, should they decide to form a party, we will see more madcap schemes like tax credits appearing in their manifesto. Who knows, one of them might step forward, grasp the bull by the horns and become the new Tony Blair.
