Yes it's a 90s car but it's got 80s headlights. And that particular version of the vauxhall cavalier was introduced in 1988

Are you wearing the headset on the rally? No. I was working at the time. I will have an ear piece in though as we all communicate via radio.

Well it came today. Quite happy. Showing signs of its age on the exterior but overall it's ok. Interior has some damp issues and the back seats are not quite attached but they are coming out anyway. Well this is the formal introduction of returning undefeated champions now called. Team Piston still broke. My co driver has just informed me it was a bit miss firey on the way home so another job to look at. Having seen the car we are now thinking about keeping it and reusing it every year. If this Cavalier is as good as it looks on your photo's, and you don't wreck the poor thing in the meantime, keeping it for the future happening sounds like a smart idea. Peter.

Were rethinking things. Potentially we will get some roof bars and put sheet steel across them and bolt everything to that, instead of having potential leaks. Any holes in the bonnet will be repairable and the spray job she may get will come off easily. If not we may use vinyl sticky back plastic with fablon. It might be similar to car wrap. A test may happen.

Now its here we need to move on and get the head and wings and stuff sorted so it can be sprayed, then we can start fitting all the toys. For the head, we have tried searching for a solid head that is big enough to be bolted to the bonnet and wont move or fall apart at 80 mph. I've had an idea, www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07B47PXW3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_lJsMCbFM00D33 probaly not that one as it's a bit scary. If I fit the bulb holders in the eyes and piping for smoke in their and then fill with expanding foam. I could install a bracket into the foam while its curing to attach it and the stickiness of it should help too. What do you all think. Sensible idea or not.

With all this talk of expanding foamon other threads, it's made me remember.
I am in need of some but I am gearing towards the two part stuff like what they use for fence posts.
I have a latex mask that I want to fill with foam to make it solid, this will be the dragons head on the front.
Does anyone know of any cheap suppliers. Or indeed any supplier.

Well progress is slow, I've been doing lots of stuff off the car but yet to start putting it all together. Today though I managed to put the foam inside the mask. Not perfect but once it's all cured I can get some more foam into the places that dident get any. I made a bracket and left about two inches free since its bolted I'll fill put more foam in the bottom. So that's the head now I need to come up with a way of building and designing winds to go on the doors

Just a quick update. Car is getting sprayed at the weekend and then i can start to install everything. Still struggling to sort out this missfire and the budget is seriously small now as any spare money i have now will be used to fund the trip. I am just awaiting replies from begging emails that I have sent to local garages.
